We bought our house two years ago and have renovated throughout in a modern, eclectic style but with comfort in mind. Our small art collection with pieces we have collected from around Europe and the UK gives us real satisfaction.
The location is great too, with a five minute walk to beautiful Roath Park, its lake, pleasure gardens and cafe; perfect for family walks when our grandchildren visit....which is often! Another fifteen minutes walk takes us to Wellfield Road which we frequently visit to eat, have coffee, a glass of wine or shop.
Access to the M4 motorway allows us to visit lovely cities and towns in West Wales or great cities like Bath or Bristol, while London is under three hours by car or two hours by train.
The space
Our house is spacious with two living rooms, a large kitchen/dining/seating area, a study, a utility room, a cloakroom with WC and a conservatory on the ground floor. We have four double bedrooms that we can make available on the first floor (we will need the fifth for storage). There are two full bathroom suites (family and en suite) as well as two other en suite shower rooms for use.
Guest access
Ground and first floor with one flight of stairs.
Notes
We do airbnb our house so we have a file with detailed information on the house, along with a few house rules. For example we would ask that no shoes are worn on the first floor which is fully carpeted, that other than water no drinks are taken upstairs...just things to ensure our house is looked after.

Neighbourhood
Cyncoed is in a high end suburb of Cardiff, the immediate surroundings of the house are generally populated by detached houses. Roath Park, with it's lake and pleasure gardens is 5 minutes walk and provides numerous facilities and amenities. These include a lakeside cafe, large children's play area, park walks, tennis courts and general recreation facilities. Take a walk around the lake in an anti-clockwise direction so you stop at the Terra Nova Cafe. You will need to walk around some of the Swans as they are cheeky and some will not get out of the way.. There is a miniature lighthouse in the lake dedicated to Robert Scott & Co and their Terra Nova Expedition, when they sailed from Cardiff in 1910 aboard the Terra Nova to the Arctic, aiming to be the first to reach the South Pole. They reached the South Pole but were beaten to it by Roald Amunsden 34 days earlier. Tragically Scott's party of 5 died on the return journey.
Wellfield Road is 20 minutes or so walk, (at the end of the recreation fields, which can be reached by walking through Roath Park Pleasure Gardens) providing numerous restaurants, cafes, and shops. For reasonably priced, simple, but good quality food visit Saraztro. The Souvlaki is quality and the burgers are made on site, try the Baklava for afters. If the owner, Aggi, is there mention my name, he is very welcoming. The Juno Lounge is great for breakfast and is very popular. For Croissants or pastries go the the Ty Melin bakery, not cheap but superb.

Bertram
Hi,
I'm Bert , I live in Cardiff UK along with my wife, Mary. We are in our early 60's and are at a stage in our lives where we can afford the time to travel more extensively to get a feel for the places we visit and experience a little of the local life rather than just the surface.
We have what we feel is a great house for anyone interested in visiting beautiful Wales.
