General overview
Our 1926 Berkeley home has been fully modernized for comfort and safety, while maintaining its historic charm. Located in a quiet, friendly street, we're within walking distance of small local shops, a children's play area, and the many trails and amenities of Tilden Regional Park. We're a short drive or bus ride to the University of California. Berkeley, which besides its world-famous academic offerings also draws world-class cultural acts at Cal Performances and the Greek Theater. Downtown Berkeley's lively music and theatre district features Broadway-bound plays; big-name musical acts and small, cozy music venues. Berkeley is also "fit for foodies" with hundreds of restaurants featuring cuisines from around the globe. Neighborhood walks from our house are lovely, with everything from impressive rock parks that draw climbers and sunset-watchers alike to quirky art displays and streets lined with storybook houses and beautiful gardens.
Visiting Bay Area sites from our home is easy by car or public transport--for example, San Francisco (30 mins), Wine Country (45 minutes), Carmel/Monterey (2 hours). Skiing or camping are top-notch at Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park (both about 4 hours), to name just two of our beautiful mountain destinations.
The space
It's a 3-bedroom house plus a large office. Our 2 bathrooms have both been updated with large showers and high-end fixtures (the downstairs bathroom is accessible). Big, modernized kitchen with a new Bosch induction range, large fridge, everything you need to make great meals. Dining room table seats 4 but can be extended for 6 with a leaf.
Guest access
2 floors--upstairs is a master suite. 5 steps to get in front door, but we have a wheelchair-accessible entry through our courtyard.
