General overview

We live in one of the most beautiful places on earth! (We aren't biased or anything ;). There are so few other places with four full seasons and day trip access to stunning beaches, lakes, mountains, rocky cliffs, famous restaurants, quaint fishing villages, and numerous state parks. From here, you will have adventures for everyone at your fingertips.

The space

Our house was totally renovated in 2019. Our favorite thing about our home is the natural light - we have large windows throughout! The downstairs is situated in a circle and includes all living spaces and master bedroom/bathroom. It includes: - Fully stocked kitchen (we love to cook) with a breakfast nook situated in a bay window, kids table, and open to the playroom with a couch - Dining room with seats for 10-12 (depending on how close you want to be ;)) - Living room with large couch and TV - Master bedroom with queen mattress, a space for exercising including yoga props, weights, and a Peloton bike, and a master bathroom with shower. - Half bath off of the kitchen + hall down to the mudroom/ laundry room with full size washer/dryer. The upstairs has a full bathroom & 4 additional bedrooms. It includes: - Full bathroom with tub/shower - Guest room with a king bed (it is a twin w trundle that converts to a king) and a desk for remote working. - Kid's bedroom with twin bunk beds - Kid's bedroom with twin day bed bed w/ trundle & two toddler beds - Nursery with crib (could be converted to toddler bed) and all you need for a baby. We may be able to put a twin mattress on the floor instead, but it would be tight!

Guest access

Our house requires a few steps up to get in from the front door or garage. Once inside, you can access the full living space + master bedroom / bathroom from the main floor. The stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are a bit steep.

Notes

We have 2 blow up paddle boards, 2 sets of adult snow shoes (and one kid pair), 2 adult bikes & 2 double kid bike trailers if we haven’t brought them on our own trip! You can also rent bikes, xcountry/downhill skis, kayaks, paddle boards, and other seasonal equipment in town.

Neighbourhood

We live in a very safe & friendly residential neighborhood. Our neighborhood borders a land trust with over 6 miles of trails through the woods, farmland, blueberry fields and ponds. The farmland hosts a farmers market on Saturday mornings in the summer and fall. You can also walk to playgrounds and a sledding hill. We have bikes for adults with trailers for children, and you can bike into town in about 20 minutes (or drive in 6). We live in a small college town (Bowdoin College) and it has great restaurants, local stores and lots to do in nature!

Getting to my home

We highly suggest bringing or renting a car as public transport is minimal and Uber/Lyft rarely come out to us.

Nearest airport

Portland, Maine (PWM). It is 30 min from our house.

Getting around

You will need a car to get around from here!

People Like Us Local Guide

We love living here! I grew up in the next town over, and we moved back here when we had kids because it is the best place to raise children! We are happy to meet up for a drink and/or help plan excursions. We frequent the mountains, beaches, surrounding towns, farms, forests, and restaurants!
