Maine is famous for its beautiful lighthouses! We have several within a short drive. This one in Portland is one of our favorites to visit with the kids and has a playground, children's garden, old fort for exploring, food trucks, a rocky beach, and lots of fields.
Eat-in kitchen (there is a smaller table for the kids as well). We love to watch the birds at the feeder in the morning!
We love to cook, so this kitchen is fully stocked!
Kids table! We also have a high chair and multiple booster seats. We are well equipped for children!
Playroom off of the kitchen. We have toys for all ages (up to 5/6) and lots of picture books! The fireplace is just decorative (for now- we'd love to get it fixed!).
Our kids mainly love to play in the play kitchen, play dress-up, build with blocks/magnatiles, and read lots and lots of books.
We also have a living / tv room downstairs. We do not have cable tv, but do have many streaming services set up.
Another view of the living room. All of our rooms have lots of windows and great natural light.
Our dining table can seat 10-12, depending on how cozy you want to be! 😃
We can point you towards the freshest seafood (we buy ours right off the docks in our town). We have everything you need to prepare a local seafood meal! Maine is known for its lobsters, fish, clams, mussels, oysters, and scallops.
The master bedroom /bathroom is located on the first floor, off of the playroom.
View from the master bed - we also have a space for exercise in the master bedroom, which includes a Peloton bike, weights, and yoga equipment.
The master bathroom has a shower only. There is a tub upstairs.
Heading upstairs, we have a nursery, three additional bedrooms (2 kids rooms & 1 guest room/office), and a full bathroom with a tub.
Our guest room & office has a king sized bed (it is a twin day bed with trundle that converts to a king. You could have it as 2 twins or a king) and a desk space for remote working.
Our oldest daughter’s room has a twin bunk bed.
The nursery is large enough for a crib (which converts to a toddler bed if you need). We could also consider a twin mattress on the floor in here, & although it would be tight, it could work!
The nursery has everything you need for a small child!
Another large bedroom upstairs includes toddler beds and a twin bed with a trundle.
Another view of the twins room.
The kids bathroom upstairs has a shower/tub and any kid bathing equipment you may need!
We have a large back deck off of the kitchen with a dining table & couch.
Our house sits on 1/2 an acre and backs up to the woods. We have lots of space for running around, gardens, & lounging.
We play outside all year round! Here you can see how much snow we can get in the winter! This is a view of our backyard from the kitchen window. We have a playhouse and kids swing set.
We have gardens in our side yard, and if you visit during the summer, you can feel free to pick what you can find!
We love making a fire in the backyard at night all year round! We have a grill for it as well, so we can cook meals over the fire.
We have an extensive trail network leading from our backyard! In the winter, we snowshoe and pull the kids through the trails on tubes. Our neighbors love to cross country ski back here. In the other months, there are ponds to explore, blueberry fields, and the trails are great for walking and running.
Our town is on the coast, and there are beaches and coves large and small within a short drive! We love to explore the many different kinds of beaches Maine has to offer. We have rocky coves with tidal pools and long, walkable white sand beaches as well. Our coastline is very unique!
We have many places nearby to picnic on the rocks and watch the seals and lobstermen in the ocean!
We have two paddleboards at the house, and if we haven't taken them with us, you would be welcome to borrow them. We also have local places nearby to rent paddleboards and kayaks. We have many lakes and quiet ocean coves for paddling.
Our fall colors are stunning! We have hikes large and small surrounding us to see the colors. This picture is right in our neighborhood, though!
More neighborhood foliage! I took this on a walk to a playground. We are walking distance (20-25min) to a handful of playgrounds in the area.
We live a couple miles from downtown, Brunswick. It is a college town with great dining options, local shops, many festivals, playgrounds/parks, food trucks, and a couple breweries. In the winter, they flood the town green for ice skating. We like to bike into town in the warmer months, and it takes about 15-20 minutes while pulling the kids in double trailers. It also has easy access to the grocery store and natural food store.
Downtown Brunswick, Maine is located on a large river with small parks and paths along it.
Another view of Brunswick.
We are a 30 minute drive from Portland, Maine, which is a historic coastal city often rated as one of the best foodie cities in the US! The dining options are extensive, and Portland has lots of shopping, parks, and events. It was recently rated as #8 best place to live in the US by U.S. News.
Aerial view of Portland.
Maine is made up of MANY small, coastal towns with great hiking, boating, shopping, and dining. There are tons of day trip options from our home!
We have incredible hiking for all abilities. We love driving 2 hours to the White Mountains in New Hampshire for large hikes. There are also lots of places good for mountain biking and rock climbing.
We also have several downhill & cross country skiing options within a 2-hour drive in the winter.
We have many islands you can take a ferry to in the warmer months for hiking, dining, and many are known for their artisan communities.
