Our home is smack dab in the centre of St. John's, making it accessible to most everything! We have grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, the Farmers' Market and much more within a 10-minute walk. Downtown, with its views of Signal Hill and its multitude of shops, bars, breweries and award-winning restaurants, is just a 20 minute walk, as are Memorial University and the Avalon Mall.
The Space
Our house is a two bedroom, one bathroom home with a dedicated home office. The second bedroom has been set up to be a remote work space with an adjustable height desk. We have a back patio and our backyard is fenced.
Guest Access
Our house is accessed by climbing a set of external front steps.
Notes
St. John's is on the Avalon Peninsula and within driving distance to many sightseeing activities. You can view whales and icebergs from Signal Hill, Cape Spear and the Irish Loop as well as Flatrock, Pouch Cove (pronouced Pooch Cove) and Torbay.
Newfoundland is the most Irish place outside of Ireland! Newfoundlanders are known for our unusual accents, musical inclination and our friendliness.
George Street (20 minutes' walk from our house or a $10 cab ride) is our most famous street and has more bars and pubs per capita than most any other place! It is known for its live music, its nightlife and the George Street Festival. During the summer months, Water Street and Duckworth Street are closed to vehicular traffic to create a Pedestrian Mall, where you can stroll safely around, taking in the sights, shops and restaurants.
Other notable places within driving distance are the Dildo Brewery (yes, you read that right), and the Conception Bay North area including Brigus (the home of the great explorer, Bob Bartlett), Cupids and Harbour Grace (the place where Amelia Earhart took off for her transatlantic flight and where the famous pirate, Peter Easton, hung out). All of these areas are just so beautiful, rugged and awe-inspiring. If you like hiking, there are wonderful trails in the area including Mad Rocks in Bay Roberts and Pirates Path in Harbour Grace.
Getting to my home
St. John's is on the tip of the Avalon Peninsula. It has an international airport (15 minutes from our home). You can also get to St. John's via a ferry from Sydney, NS to Port aux Basques (9 hour drive) or Argentia (1.5 hour drive).
St. John's International Airport is 15 minutes away by vehicle.
I can offer advice to anyone visiting St. John's, or Newfoundland, in general. While I don't live in St. John's full-time, I may be able to meet up on occasion.
