Neighbourhood

We are very well placed to access the lake for swimming/ kayaking/ paddle boarding or just soaking up the sun and the mountains for hiking/cycling/skiing. Trails for walking/running are right out the back of the house and bigger mountains are all around us, the snowy mountains in winter are a short drive. Local ski resorts such as Villars is 40 minutes away but we are also only the same distance from accessing the French Alps via Morgins and Châtel. Verbier is 1 hour. In summer, the lake is a must for water activities or relaxation, as is taking a stroll through Vevey, Montreux or the Unesco Lavaux for a taste of some fine wines. Some useful links to get an idea of activities/sights Take a look at beautiful Vevey. https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=7lh4iBsFXV8 Stroll, bike or take the little train through the Unesco vineyards and explore the characterful villages. https://www.myvaud.ch/en/Z14278/lavaux-unesco Head in to the fresh water lake Leman for a swim, paddle, kayak etc., we spend a lot of time at the lake in the summer or at one of the many outdoor pools in the area - we have a wide selection of pools, that range from simple to waterparks. We have two pools within 10 minutes drive https://www.myvaud.ch/en/Z14263/an-ocean-of-fun https://www.myvaud.ch/en/Z14265/water-fun-with-the-family https://www.aquaparc.ch/ https://www.lausanne-tourisme.ch/en/explore/aquasplash-renens-swimming-pool/ Check out the amazing hiking and cycling trails https://schweizmobil.ch/en/summer Ride the small trains at Vapeur parc - 35 mins https://swissvapeur.ch/decouvrir-le-parc/ Head to the medieval town of Gruyères - home of Swiss cheese and Cailler chocolate - 25 minutes https://www.heremagazine.com/articles/gruyeres-switzerland-travel https://www.lamaisondugruyere.ch/homepage-en/ https://cailler.ch/en/cailler-experiences Go to a concert or just soak up the free outdoor music and pop up bars/restaurants that line the waterfront at Montreux Jazz Festival in July - 20 mins https://www.montreuxjazzfestival.com/en/

Nearest airport

Geneva, 67km

Getting around

A 3 minute walk down our road takes you to the main street and the bus for Vevey or Chatel St Denis, it runs every 30 minutes and takes 25 minutes to Vevey, 5 to Châtel St Denis. From these stations you can travel to anywhere in Switzerland. Lausanne in 10 minutes, Montreux in 5. The closest airport is Geneva which is a 1 hour drive or 1hr 20 on the train/bus. A car isn’t absolutely essential (if you prefer public transport) but I’d highly recommend it to be able to explore the area fully and for grocery shopping which is a 3 minute drive away, (as are all shops) again you can get there by bus but the walk back to the house is uphill. If you hire a car, ensure to hire from the Swiss side at Geneva airport (not france).
