We have a farm with ten acres, goats, cows and a huge barn. You'll be staying in the "guest house" which was built for farm workers in the 1950s. It's a bit rustic, but it's charming and warm and has everything you need to explore the area.
The space
We live in Ferndale, Washington, which is a great town surrounded by mountains, ocean and farms. We're an hour from skiing at Mt. Baker, fifteen minutes from the beach, and an hour from downtown Vancouver, BC (you'll need a passport!) There's much to explore there, from the mountains and Cascade National Park to fishing for salmon or exploring the San Juan Islands.
Guest access
We have two bedrooms up a narrow set of stairs. The house is a simple wooden house built for farmhands, but it has a full kitchen, bathroom, and porch that overlooks our farm.

Getting to my home
The nearest airport is Bellingham, about ten minutes from here, but it's easier to fly to Vancouver BC and rent a car. It's about an hour away.

Getting around
If we're home while you're here, we can pick you up at the airport and we can share a car, but you'd probably be happier renting a car. If we're gone, you can use ours.

I'm a writer in Washington State, where we have a small farm with goats and cows. My husband is an engineer who works from home. Our two oldest sons are off at college or working, so mostly it will be three of us -- my husband, my 14-year-old daughter, and me! We have experience caring for all sorts of animals, from barn cats to pigs, and are capable, kind, responsible people.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
