General overview

Travel time from the center of the Netherlands to our house in Biras is approximately 10 to 11 hours. We always made the ride in a day or night, but you can of course also spend the night in a more relaxed way. It is also possible to take the plane. Transavia flies a few times a week from Rotterdam to Bergerac, an hour's drive from here. You can rent a car at the airport. Unfortunately we do not have a spare car available. Our house is located in the countryside outside the village, on a dead end road with only one other neighboring house. It is located in a hamlet of about six houses, so you do not feel that you are alone in the world. You can relax on a lounge chair on the large terrace and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view, which looks different every season. When it's hot, you'll find a cool shady spot under the trees. And because it is really dark here at night, you can stare breathlessly at the starry sky as you rarely get to see in NL. If you are used to a lot of bustle and noise around you at home, then you really have to switch mentally when you experience the peace and quiet here. The Dordogne is a popular holiday destination and in the high season it is very busy in the tourist areas, but you will not notice this in the vicinity of our house.

The space

Downstairs is the living room with dining area and next to it the spacious kitchen with large refrigerator with separate freezer, combination microwave and washing machine. Behind the kitchen are the toilet and bathroom with double sink and shower cabin. Upstairs are two spacious bedrooms. In the master bedroom is a wonderfully spacious bed (180 x 210), in the other two single beds and a sink. Closet space has been made available for guests. There is a detached garage and carport, where your car is parked in the shade. The large garden is fenced for the protection of the dogs.

Guest access

The house is approx. 100 m2, on one floor. There is a sturdy wooden staircase with non-slip steps. There are no disabled facilities.

Notes

Because of the tense situation in Europe, we do not want to make any long trips for the time being and would also enjoy short vacations in France. Due to the tense situation in Europe, we do not want to take long trips at the moment and would also like to take a short vacation in France.

Marion & Peter

We are Marion and Peter, a retired Dutch couple living in the beautiful Périgord countryside. We do not travel much anymore, however we try to go to the Netherlands for two weeks every year to visit our family. The best time would be in June or September/October. We have two medium sized dogs that we like to take with us, so we hope to find an exchange home where dogs are welcome.
