Our row home is nearly 100 years old, with recent renovations that preserve the charm… think exposed brick and original finishes. We have small luxuries in the house like heated tile floors in the kitchen and bathroom. My husband has thoughtfully decorated the house with mid-century modern furniture and local art. We are walkable to some restaurants.
We have plants to water but no pets. We are open to taking care of pets, especially cats, as my daughter loves them so much!
We are a 20 minute drive from the White House, 10-15 minutes from the Capitol, Union Station, and 10-20 minutes from all the free Smithsonian museums.
The internet is strong for working from home. During covid shutdowns we had one adult and 2 kids using Teams with video all day and did fine.
There's plenty of public transportation so you can visit without a car. But there's plenty of parking if you have a car.
There are steps to enter the home and to get to the bedrooms, so the house is not very accessible to those with mobility challenges.
The space
2 floors: the first floor is living, dining, kitchen, .5 bath.
The second floor has 1 full bathroom and 2 bedrooms: 1 primary with queen bed, 1 bedroom with a single bed + desk setup. (note there is a 3rd bedroom not offered at this time)
Guest access
Access to 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, front porch, street parking. No access to the basement or the backyard unless exchanging with a big group.
*Note that my daughter does not want anyone using her room so we are respecting that for now and just offering 2 bedrooms. We will try again later.
Notes
The basement apt is usually rented out on Airbnb so we are mindful of noise in the house and would ask the same of you. This is an attached row house with neighbors on both sides so there is a possibility of minor noise. We listed the basement apt separately because we have much more availability to host there, but a big group could use both to sleep 6-8.
Option to have a professional cleaning upon departure ($150).

We live in Trinidad, NE Washington, DC. This is a relatively quiet, residential area.
We have 2 playgrounds in the neighborhood, one you can see from the house and a nicer one about a 6 minute walk away.
Around a 10 minute walk to H St + 13th St block:
-Maketto (interesting Asian menu in trendy boutique)
-Imm on H (Thai Food)
-Sospeso (Mediterranean)
-Farmer's Markets on Saturday mornings 9am-12:30pm, April 2 – Dec 24
Joe Cole rec center, a 6-8 min walk away, has a playground, splash park in the summer, and Sunday farmers market.
Getting to my home
Fly to DCA, IAD, or BWI. Or train/long distance bus to Union Station.
Nearest airport
DCA (closest, just a 20 minute drive, $20 Uber ride)
IAD, BWI are about an hour away, $50-60+ Uber ride
Union Station is about a 10 minute drive away, with trains and busses to Philadelphia, NYC, etc.
Getting around
Without a car: There is a bus stop right in front of the house (D8) that takes you to the Metro - Red line. A few blocks away is a very convenient bus line (X2) that takes you to towards the White House, Chinatown, and downtown so you may be able to skip the metro. The D8 bus takes you from Union Station to right in front of the house in 10-15 minutes.
You can walk 10 minutes to the H St streetcar that takes you to Union Station for free (but doesn't take you anywhere else).
If you will take the bus, you can add a "transit pass" (select SmartTrip) directly to your Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Or you can use $2.25 cash in exchange change.
Ubers and Lyfts are usually plentiful so that is always a good option. And sometimes priced about the same as the bus/metro for short trips.
Capitol Bikeshare has docked bikes for rent, a 30 second walk way (cross the alley and you will see them).
There are sometimes Lyft/Lime scooters and e-bikes on the block, but can't guarantee access.

We are a family of 3, including 9 year old daughter. I work remotely for a healthcare association. My husband owned a restaurant for many years and is now working on his next venture. Non-smokers. My bookworm 4th grader would love to talk to you about Harry Potter and Greek mythology.
We visit Florida 1-2x a year to see my family in North Florida, and fit in a more exciting trip or two for Spring Break and Summer.
