This is our guest suite in the basement of our 100 year old row home. After a 3 year-long(!) renovation of the home, our basement came out really nice! It's a one bedroom that sleeps 4, if you put a few kids on the couch that converts into the 2 low beds. We usually Airbnb out this apt and have it available for friends and family visiting.
It has a separate entrance from our home (1 in the front and 1 in the back).
The space
Covered patio, living room, small dining area, full kitchen, bedroom with queen bed, washer/dryer, bathroom with shower but no bathtub. We have a baby bathtub, pack and play, high chair.
Guest access
A few stairs to enter in both the front and back.
Notes
We live in the house above so there is a bit of noise. And its a row home so hearing neighbors is possible too.

Neighbourhood
We live in Trinidad, NE Washington, DC. This is a relatively quiet, residential area, about a 10 minute walk to restaurants and a seasonal farmers market.
We have 2 playgrounds in the neighborhood, one you can see from the house and a nicer one about a 6 minute walk away.
Getting to my home
Uber/Lyft, bus, scooter share, bike share, car
We use a combo of car, Uber/Lyft, scooter and bus in our daily lives (not metro as it’s not that close).
Nearest airport
Airports: DCA (closest at 20 minute drive, $20 Uber ride)
IAD, BWI are about an hour away, $50-60 Uber ride
Union Station is about a 10 minute drive away
Getting around
We are a 20 minute drive from the National Mall, 15 minutes from the Capitol, 10 minutes from Union Station. Walkable to busses, bike share, a street car, and scooter share but more than a mile from the metro.
H St is a restaurant area about 5 minutes drive or 10 minute walk away. 10 minute walk to the H St Streetcar, which is free and takes you to Union Station. A 5 minute drive takes you to the trendy Union Market area. We are about 2 miles from Union Station, 15 minutes on the bus/streetcar, or 10 minutes driving or Uber.
Around a 10 minute walk to H St + 13th St block:

We are a family of 3, including 8 year old daughter. I have an MPH degree and work remotely for a healthcare association. My husband owned a restaurant for many years and is now working on his next venture. Non-smokers. My bookworm 3rd grader would love to talk to you about Harry Potter and Greek mythology. Se habla Espanol in my house, by everyone but me.
Our travels were limited for a few years because we were foster parents and then the pandemic hit, so now we are eager to travel as much as we can within the limits of the school calendar.
We visit Florida 1-2x a year to see my family in North Florida, and fit in a more exciting trip or two for Spring Break and Summer.
