Neighbourhood
North Manhattan Beach has it's own set of restaurants and shops at the top of the street and a restaurant on the sand at the bottom of the street. It is considered a premier surf spot and a great family beach with swings. A 15-minute walk will take you to downtown Manhattan Beach with an additional large selection of restaurants and shops as well as a grocery store. A short drive will take you to El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, or Redondo Beach where there are more restaurants, shops, theaters, recreation parks, etc. We are approx. 45 minutes from Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, and Hollywood, 30 minutes from Downtown Los Angeles, and about an hour from Universal Studios.

Getting Around
Manhattan Beach is a walking town with nearly everything within a walking distance. There is also an excellent bike path for miles. Rideshare is easy to access. There are some buses and a metro stop in the vicinity but most people walk, bike, or drive.

Leslie
My name is Leslie and my husband is Joe. We are recent empty nesters with four adult children and a new grandbaby. We are bi-coastal in Manhattan Beach and South Burlington. We hope to find PLU exchanges to visit our kids in NYC and Palm Desert. We also love to travel internationally, particularly to Asia, South America, and Europe.
Joe is retired and Leslie is a semi-retired professor (teaching online) so we are flexible with our travel as long as we have high-speed internet access!
We have a dog and a cat at our home in Manhattan Beach and are always interested in finding volunteer pet-sitters who want to spend some time at the beach when we are in Vermont or traveling.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
