Neighbourhood

We have a very quiet neighbourhood. In August there are pleople in the (lovely) nearby swimming pool (that belongs to the owner of the nearest rural House, but can be used by paying a fee). But you can always find the peace in our back garden....Apart from that, It is absolutely peaceful, a typical mountain village. We have a family that live near us and they are also our cousins-they will help you if you need something.

Getting around

You would better need a car to be able to get around, to the rest of the valley, nearest valles, rest of Cantabria, etc. In Reinosa (15 km from home) you will find trains and buses to different places. But to get to know the most authentic corners you would need a car (car exchange can be considered). The nearest shops are in Espinilla (6km) but there are more in Reinosa (15k). There are many interesting restaurants around where you can try tasty food. There are many options for visiting small villages, lovely architecture, Romanesque churches ..... Santander is just 1 hour far. Other interesting cities like Bilbao, Palencia, Burgos, Oviedo.....are 1-2 hour far. The beautiful Cantabria beaches are at no more than 1 hour, with so many possibilities. Nearest regions like Asturias, Basque Country or Castilla are not far. Apart from that, there are endless possibilities for trekking and cycling from our doorstep!

Marta

We are a family of three, a couple (Icar and Marta) and our little explorer, our daughter Noa who is now 6 years old. We live in a fantastic place up in the mountains, (but just 1 hour far from the sea) in a lovely house that is a paradise for families and nature lovers. We have also two dogs, that don´t stay at home during our exchanges. We are passionate about sports, being outdoors, healthy lifestyle, attachment parenting, and, of course...travelling!. I work as a Highschool teacher and Icar is a technician in Mecanized production. We love travelling to European places in summer (or further destinations), and, normally, we choose national destinations during the rest of our holiday breaks. But we are always open to new ideas and destinations. We have already done quite a lot of national and international exchanges (through Home Exchange) and they have always been amazing and enriching experiences.
