Neighbourhood
Historic San Juan Capistrano is home to the CA Mission by the same name in the series of historic California missions dating back to the Ranchero era. The downtown strip is renovated in recent years and many young families have flocked to the beautiful upscale Rancho-style town. There’s a wonderful eclectic mix of surfers, horseback riders, locals, and tourists visiting famous nearby beaches in the beautiful area of Southern California, south of LA.
Catalina Island can be accessed from an hour long ferry ride out of the Dana Point Harbor five minutes from our home. The island is exquisite, and a must-see if you can.
Love to hike? They are beautiful wilderness parks 10 minutes in multiple directions from us.
Getting to my home
Our home is 1 mile from the San Juan Capistrano train station. It is a low cost Uber/Lyft ride.
Nearest airport
John Wayne airport is about a half hour north of us.
Getting Around
The easiest way to get around is to use a car in Orange County, although there are free summer trolleys in our town (and 3 neighboring towns).
It is a 15 to 20 minute walk to restaurants and shops.
Two cars fit on our driveway, so you may bring your own car if you would like and have a spot. There’s also ample parking in our neighborhood.

Britt's home in San Juan Capistrano was perfect for our week-long beach getaway. From her great location, my husband and I were able to exolore the mission and historic distric of SJC and the awesome beach cities to the north and south. The home was clean and comfortable. Britt communicated well, and our stay was very easy. I would definitely recommend Britt's home in San Juan Capistrano!
The Masters family has a beautiful and sweet home. Everything about the house was perfect, they left all the amenities that you can need and you will feel at your own home . I couldn’t pick one , because everything was amazing!!
About them , I will be forever grateful that they allowed my family to stay at their place , I could feel how much they trust me and how they left the house all ready and spotless for us and with details like drawings made by their children for us and with our names in them , even my dogs name, also left presents for my son. ❤️
They are really fantastic people that makes you believe in humanity again 😉.
I also have to mention Jack here cause their dog is so sweet and loving always looking for caresses and love which We were more than happy to give . We will miss him very much!!
Thanks for having us!!
The Masters home was in such a great location, the neighborhood was quiet and peaceful as well. We loved spending time with Jack, their sweet little dog. We felt welcome and at home in their cozy house.
Britt, Andrew and family were wonderful guests when they stayed in my Michigan home this summer! Britt was great with communication throughout the entire process. I would be honored to have them back again anytime.
Britt and her family are amazing guests! Communication was so kind and prompt, and they were helpful with a few unexpected matters. :) They definitely seemed to enjoy my house and that is still a great feeling. She and her family went above and beyond at the end of their stay when it came to cleaning which was a lovely surprise. They left the house in even better shape than they found it, in my humble opinion. If you have the chance to exchange with or host them, don't hesitate to take it. I hope to visit their place in the future!
Britt was a dream guest. Her family was our first exchange guest of any kind, and it set such a good tone for us for using this platform for traveling. She was so communicative, and left our house in beautiful shape. I hope she and her family come again!
Britt and her family had a great time at our place. She was neat and left the place in great shape. I hope she finds more places to exchange. I was away so never got to meet her in person but we spoke on the phone and she was super easy to communicate with and so nice.
Dayna’s home was so spacious and had wonderful amenities. The backyard was a kid’s dream, and she was so sweet to pull out young toys for my kiddos. Her master bedroom felt like a retreat paradise with a beautiful large open space and a spa-like bathroom.
We are so thankful for the time we spent there getting to relax after visiting loved ones in the area. Thank you so much for making our stay so meaningful with great communication and welcoming, thoughtful gifts. We appreciate you Dayna!
Feedback for Katie·Non-Reciprocal exchange·10 nights
Katie’s home was absolutely beautiful and in exactly the perfect place in town for us to visit nearby family. Right next to shops and lots of food options, its TN charm was fabulous. It had a beautiful yard for our dog and refreshing stock tank pool, and the home had every amenity we could ask for.
My kids loved her vintage Pac Man arcade game, and every room had a TV for streaming. (We even fell in love with her Chick Fil-A ice maker and will have to purchase one ourselves!)
Moreover, Katie is fabulous at communicating and so incredibly thoughtful. She made us feel so welcome and was intentional about specifics for our large family and our trip to TN. (Details and in her home were labeled and thoughtfully accessible to make our stay incredibly comfortable.)
What fun with family, Dollywood, Smoky Mountains, Knoxville Zoo and a Smokies game! We will remember our trip for a long time to come.
Eva, her husband, and sweet pup were fabulous guests! Our house looked beautiful when we returned home! Eva was great with communication and so thoughtful, even leaving us a sweet gift from our town. We’d love to have them again in the future.
Feedback for Bryce·Non-Simultaneous exchange·5 nights
The Allison’s home was such a fun home to visit. Neat and organized it is furnished and remolded so beautifully. The home is exquisite with wonderful natural lighting and welcoming amenities.
We were tired from a cross country roadtrip and were delighted to rest and relax in such a hospitable space. (The beds were so comfortable!) Austin is such a fun town, and it had a great location as well as charm to the home.
On a fabulous 1/2 acre - our kids had a ball. Everything we needed for the kids was there and the home was wonderfully baby proofed. (From practical fixtures and step stools to fun toys to play with.)
Rachael and Bryce are incredibly kind and thoughtful. We were so well looked after, and they responded so quickly to any communication. We set up this homestay last minute, and the Allisons were so gracious in making every detail perfect. On a personal note I want to take notes from them on decorating because we absolutely loved the style of remodel and decor. Such a fabulous experience. Thank you Allison Family!
Feedback for Mary Ann·Non-Reciprocal exchange·7 nights
Mary Ann and Richard’s beautiful guest house felt like a luxury vacation rental. Just steps away from the beautiful lake, the view was absolutely picturesque (especially in the morning sipping a hot cup of provided coffee) and the home had all of the amenities anyone could ask for.
Mary Ann was quick to respond to messages. It was great to meet Richard; it was nice to know that since they were upstairs, they were available if we needed absolutely anything. Thanks Mary Ann and Richard!
Feedback for Isa·Non-Simultaneous exchange·28 nights
Isa was an amazing house guest! She took such lovely care of our home and loved on our sweet dog - she took such excellent care of him! She even sent us cute videos and photos of him for fun. The house was left sparkling clean, and she even left presents for my children, so thoughtful.
Isa is easy to communicate with, so friendly, and now, a forever friend! We are so thankful for Isa.
Feedback for Makenalee·Simultaneous exchange·5 nights
Makena’s home was beautiful! Clean, spacious and so welcoming of our family.
She had extra blankets, bath towels, and pool towels ready for us when we arrived.
My kids had so much fun in the pool and jacuzzi, and Makena was kind enough to leave out tons of toys for them to play with.
We took a day trip to the Grand Canyon and had an absolute blast as a family. We also had fun walking around both the local London Bridge and visiting Parker Dam. What a fun family vacation.
