Our house is in the middle of Diepenveen, a small village close to the historic city of Deventer. Diepenveen is surrounded by forest, farming fields and waterfronts - the IJssel river. You can easily walk the area, or take a bike for a longer tour. A bike ride into Deventer takes only around 10 minutes.

The Space

Our house has a very nice secluded garden of over 600 sqm. The garden offers enough room to play, enjoy the sun, fire up the BBQ and have dinner.
Inside the house, the living room is spacious, with a fireplace, a TV sets (incl. Netflix) and Bose soundbar. 
The big kitchen has all the amenities you need for a nice stay, like a five burner Boretti stove and oven and a dishwasher. On the ground floor there are two lavatories.
Upstairs there are three large bedrooms and a roomy bathroom with a toilet, bath, shower and a double washing stand. In a separate room a washer and dryer are available. The fourth bedroom is located on the second floor. 
Wifi is available throughout the whole house (and a part of the garden as well).
A grocery store is just 200 meters away. Other shops, like a bakery, cheese store, butcher and liquor store are even closer. The closest restaurant is also just 100 meters from the front door.
A large open air swimming pool is about 1 km away. And for these small distances you can use our (four) bikes.

Neighbourhood

Deventer is centrally located in The Netherlands. Amsterdam is just over a one hour train ride (just as Schiphol airport is).

Diepenveen is very close to the old city of Deventer - celebrating it's 1250 anniversary in 2018! Deventer is well known for it's annual book market - the biggest one in Europe. There are a lot of galleries and other nice shops in the Deventer center to allow strolling for a couple of hours. See https://www.instagram.com/lovedemter/ to get a nice impression.

Other nice cities in the neighborhood are Zwolle and Arnhem. And as The Netherlands is not that big, Utrecht is less than on hour and even Amsterdam is just over a one hour train ride away.

Direct from our house you can take a walk into the beautiful area. Or take the bikes for a longer ride towards the river (and cross it with a small ferry) or the other way into the countryside - and try to climb the "Holterberg", a real "Dutch mountain" (so just 60 meters high).

With a short drive you'll end up on the Veluwe, the largest natural area in The Netherlands. You can walk or bike for hours there.

Getting to my home

Public transport brings you to Deventer easily. To get to / from our house you need either a car or a bike.

Schiphol airport, 1:15 train ride from Deventer.

Getting Around

Groceries are on walking distance. To get into the city, bikes are the preferred mode of transport (and available). To get around you can use our two cars.

We are a family of four : Roel (61, independent IT consultant), Linda (58, medical doctor), Anna (28, medical doctor) and Nina (23, communications professional). We will most likely travel with just the two of us, but incidentally one or both of our daughters might join us.
We like to travel to interesting places but sunny and beach are favourite too!
