General overview
Our house in on a quiet, leafy street on the Waikato River with sensational views of some of New Zealand's stunning landscape. From our front door you have access to bike trails, riverside walks and the town centre with all its wonderful tourist attractions. Our spacious house and outdoor areas are designed for entertaining and relaxing, with a number of decks and seating areas to take in the stunning views and enjoy our beautiful temperate weather. We have been renovating the house over the past year with a focus on building open, light and comfortable spaces. The kitchen is central to the design and opens up to the outdoors with French doors on both sides. On the main deck we have gardens, large seating areas, a BBQ and an excellent pizza oven.
The space
Our home is a detached 3 bed/2 bath home, though only 2 double bedrooms are available for exchange at this time.
As you enter the front door, the internal garage door is to your right and a staircase leads you up to the main house. The bedrooms, main bathroom, separate WC and laundry room are off the hallway. The main part of the house is open plan with fireplace nook, kitchen area, entertainment/dining area and window seating with picture window.
Bedrooms:
The master bedroom has a super king bed with AC/heat pump and en-suite with shower, toilet and handbasin.
The second bedroom has a very comfortable double pull-out bed. The room also has an adjustable desk, extra wide monitor, printer and wireless mouse & keyboard which you can plug your laptop into and work remotely.
Laundry room:
Washing machine, tumble dryer, iron & ironing board stored in here.
Main house:
The fireplace area has a wood burner with plenty of kindling and wood. There is a comfy sofa which looks out to the garden through the French doors.
The kitchen has all the usual mod cons. The large stone bench has an integrated induction cook top and sink. There is seating for 4 people at the end of the bench. We have heaps of kitchen gadgets including a Thermomix, Kitchen Aid stand mixer, Nespresso machine and Nutribullet.
The kitchen has 2 sets of French doors which open out onto the main deck area and yard.
The entertainment area has AC/heat pump, a large comfortable L-shape sofa, dining area and window box seat area with picture windows. The 65” TV has Google, TVNZ channels and heaps of other channels like BBC, Channel 4, Youtube and other local streaming services so you can access all the latest movies & TV shows. The dining area is set up for 4 people, but can seat 6 (we have spare chairs).
Outside:
The main deck has a wood fired pizza oven, Weber BBQ and L-shape seating area with large umbrella. The yard has additional seating area and the small decking area has bistro table and chairs. The garden has an automatic irrigation system.
Garage:
The large garage, as well as storing our car, has an auxillary laundry area – sink & top loader 10k machine. There is also a gym area which has Google TV, free weights, pilates reformer machine, water rower and Wahoo bike. Paddle boards will be available to you if we are overseas.
Other:
We have home automation set up for window blinds and lighting. This can be switched off if preferred.
Guest access
There is a staircase that leads from the front door to the main part of the house.
Notes
We have 2 beautiful cats resident here and it would be preferable if they could stay when we exchange. They have an automated feeding & water set up and have their own cat doors to let themselves in and out.
Please no smoking or vaping in our home.

Happy to meet up for drinks and welcome our new friends to town.
What a fabulous short break we have just had, thank you Maggie and Aaron for your perfect home, it was warm, clean and inviting. A very good area to bike ride from too. I would definitely recommend an exchange with these lovely people!
What a perfect stay we had at Maggie and Arons lovely home in Taupo. A beautiful home with everything you could need, so comfortable, and a lovely outdoor area full of fresh herbs and veges and gorgeous plants. Taupo is such a great place to visit....so many things to do and see...beautiful mountains, an incredible lake, water activities, boat trips, geothermal walks and springs. Communication was fabulous and we loved meeting Maggie and Aron and having a drink before we left . The car exchange went beautifully with easy collection at the airport. Highly recommend a stay in Taupo with these lovely hosts.
Maggie and Aron were great guests. It was just a short stay and I didn’t meet them but everything went well.
Our home was immaculate....Maggie and Aron left it better than when we left!!! With a gorgeous bunch of flowers to greet us. Welcome anytime in the future for another swap!!!
Sue and her friends were the perfect houseguests. Communication was excellent and it was a really easy exchange to organise. The house was left spotlessly clean and the most amazing flowers were left on the bench. Thank you Sue, you are welcome back anytime!
We were really lucky to get to stay at Susan's Raglan home this weekend and we had a lovely stay.
The house is in a fantastic location with harbour views and is a short walk to the centre of town. The house is very spacious with everything you need and it has the most gorgeous bright yellow front door!
Communication was quick and easy and we were provided with lots of useful information and recommendations.
Susan is an awesome host and was kind enough to accommodate us so that we could stay an extra night. Thank you so much for opening up your home to us.
We had a fabulous sim exchange (home & car) with Jane and Rowan. They were awesome, guiding us through our first exchange on PLU. Their communication was brilliant and we felt really comfortable with the whole process. Jane and Rowan are the loveliest people you could meet and their home is so unique, spacious and beautiful. We had a wonderful stay and got to do so much in Melbourne. It was the perfect location for everything we had planned in the surrounding area and city. I am just so glad we had the opportunity to do this swap. We were fortunate to be able to meet Jane and Rowan at the beginning and end of our trip and it felt like meeting up with friends. We really hope to catch up with them again on a future trip to Melbourne or here in NZ. Next time the bubbles are on us!
Jane and Rowan were the perfect house guests and we were so happy that they enjoyed their stay. I think Tilly our cat was just a little bit enamoured with Rowan!! We returned to an immaculate house and some gorgeous surprise goodies. Thank you guys for being such wonderful house guests – you are welcome back any time.

Maggie and Aron
Hello! We are Maggie and Aron and have lived in beautiful Taupo for 4 years. I am originally from the UK and Aron is a proud Kiwi. We had 11 fabulous years in Melbourne & Brisbane before deciding it was time to leave the city and get back to Aron's NZ roots. We love living in Taupo and experiencing all it has to offer. We share our home with our Aussie born cats, Mischa and Tilly.
