Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood (Logan Square) has been named one of the best neighborhoods in the country, with tons of new restaurants and life coming in.
We are within walking distance of Humboldt Park, which is huge and beautiful. http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/parks/humboldtpark/
We are steps from the 606, an elevated walking/biking path through the city, made from an abandoned rail line. https://www.the606.org/
There are shared bike stations all over the city, including steps from our home. https://www.divvybikes.com/
We are a quick train ride from downtown (http://www.transitchicago.com/), with Broadway shows (http://www.broadwayinchicago.com/), world class museums, a gorgeous beach, high end shopping (https://www.themagnificentmile.com/?url=/), and one of the best food cities the world over.
Foodies will not be disappointed here. Chicago was named the #1 Food City in America for 2017 by both Conde Nast and Bon Appetit! Fill up on Michelin stars, or food trucks, and everything in between. You can't throw a stone without hitting a great restaurant.
All seasons are great in Chicago, even winter! Summer brings beach days at the beautiful Lake Michigan, eating outside, hundreds of neighborhood street fests, and rooftop drinking at it's finest. Fall is gorgeous, with changing colors, lighter crowds at area museums and sightseeing. Winter brings warm mugs of hot chocolate (try Mindy's Hot Chocolate!), European-style fun at the Christkindlmarkt, ice skating in Maggie Daley park, Zoolights at Lincoln Park Zoo, the Michigan Avenue Magnificent Mile decorated with millions of lights to finish up your Christmas shopping. Spring brings new life, exploring the Chicago Botanical Center, Morton Arboretum, and walking and biking on the 606 trail. Any time, any season, Chicago is the place to be!
Nearest airport
O'Hare airport (ORD) is approximately a 30-40 minute train ride, with a car it can vary between 25 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on traffic.
Getting around
TRANSPORTATION: We are near El train line and bus public transportation, as well as easy walking distance to tons of restaurants and bars, grocery, parks, and more. We are about a 10-15 minute train ride to the Loop. It's easy to take advantage of everything the city has to offer. We are also close to a Divvy bike station (shared bike service all throughout the city).
PARKING: Parking is free on the street in front of our house, but if you are staying in the city, public transportation and Uber/Lyft will be more than enough. Parking downtown is typically very expensive and difficult to find.

We are a family of four, 2 adults and 2 children (2011, 2015). I am a psychologist, working in Executive Assessment and Development. My husband works in IT Consulting/Digital Transformation. Our oldest daughter is a competitive swimmer and avid reader. My younger daughter loves playing soccer, and enjoys music and art. We have been home exchanging for many years and have traveled all over the world in exchanges. We are respectful, tidy exchangers, and love to get into nature, go hiking, and explore new cultures and foods.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
