Hospitality Description: We have a lot of space where an RV could be parked with electrical access and plenty of privacy. We do not have water or sewer hookups for longer stays, however.

General Overview
Our snug home in the woods is located in Northwest Bend, just west of town on Tumalo Creek in the Deschutes National Forest. It's situated on 38 quiet acres with direct access to the mountain biking trails attached to Phil's Trailhead. In the summer, jog the dirt trails, read a book with your toes in the creek, ride your mountain bike or road bike. In the winter, cross country ski around the property or along the many trails through the Skyliners Snopark right here. Sledding is right out the door and you can come inside for a warm fire and hot cocoa.
The Space
With two bedrooms and a loft, accessible by built-in ladder, our place can comfortably sleep 6. With air mattresses or ingenuity you can push that a bit more. It's a small home with a cabin-feel. Comfy and warm.
Guest Access
The home is two floors requiring the use of stairs. It also has a loft accessible only by ladder. The loft is where our children sleep and play
Notes
This is a pretty rugged property. You'll need to be comfortable with dirt paths, steep river banks, log crossings (if you want to access the "island" between the rivers). It is an absolute delight for those interested in immersing in nature and getting everything Bend nature has to offer.

Neighbourhood
You can't ask for a more peaceful "neighborhood," just a few short miles from Tumalo Falls, half a mile from the Historic Skyliners Neighborhood, and plopped onto 38 quiet acres with Tumalo Creek flowing through the property.
Getting to my home
The home is super easy to access by car (or bike!) by taking Skyliners Rd. west of Bend. Many people ride roadbikes up and down this road, using the 6 foot bike lanes.
Nearest airport
Redmond Airport RDM is approximately 40 minutes from our home.
Getting Around
You'll definitely need a car to stay here (unless you're an avid roadbiker and then you'd do fine to ride in and out of town using the 6 foot bike lanes along Skyliners). A quick 10 minute drive gets you into Northwest Bend, where all the fun shops, amazing restaurants, night life, and more are waiting.
We have been to Bend many times and for this trip we decided to try and stay closer to the hiking trails, near waterfalls and somewhere secluded and private. Megan’s home fit the bill and we could walk from the house to the trailhead that takes you to the Tumalo waterfalls - great trail!
We were concerned about the heat in Bend (90 degrees) but Megan let us know that the house stays quite cool as it’s tucked away in the trees and is always shaded. Thankfully she was right as there is no AC and the fans were not working right. The house stayed nice and cool throughout the day.
The home has a very interesting and unique layout with no designated living room or dining room. There was a table on the deck, but unfortunately we didn’t get to use it as the mosquitoes were really bad during our stay - bring bug spray! Minimalistic home setup so we did have to shop for a few items.
The upstairs king bed was quite comfortable! If you sleep late or need blackout shades, bring an eye mask as there are no window shades. However, the forest views were beautiful and we enjoyed watching the rain fall and the trees sway during an afternoon thunderstorm.
We appreciate Megan accepting our globe stay 😊
Absolutely Perfect Getaway!
We had the most incredible stay at Megan’s cabin escape in Bend! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The cabin was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had that perfect mix of rustic charm and modern comfort. The wood-burning stove made it feel extra warm and inviting, the view of their back deck is breathtaking the creek and all the trees are beautiful.
Waking up to the sounds of the forest and the view of tall pines right outside the windows was pure magic, we hiked the nearby waterfall that was the highlight of our trip, exploring downtown Bend, and relaxing under the stars in the hot tub. It truly felt like a peaceful retreat, yet it was close enough to town for anything we needed.
Megan was incredibly responsive and thoughtful, she’s a great host and now friend. . You can tell they put a lot of love into this place.
We didn’t want to leave — and we’re already planning our return trip. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing, nature-filled escape!
Beautiful cabin home in the middle of the woods. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - Bend was a great location to explore and also a base for many day trips - lots to see! Megan was very forthcoming with all the information we needed to know as well as responsive to our queries. We were able to meet when she stopped by with her sons to drop off delicious pastries from the local bakery. We would love to stay again in the future!
Megan and her family and friends were wonderful guests. They took excellent care of our dog and our home, leaving behind a happy dog and a spotless house. We'd have them back again in minute.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Megan's home! The house itself was beautiful, with every detail carefully thought out. We especially loved the nearby river—such a peaceful spot to relax and unwind. Despite feeling wonderfully secluded, we were just 10 minutes away from the city, which made everything so convenient. Megan was incredibly responsive to all of our questions, making our stay even more enjoyable. I can't recommend this place enough. We'll definitely be back!
I had a wonderful end-of-spring stay at Megan's house. But first, I'd like to mention how grateful I am to Megan for her flexibility. I'd initially arranged to stay the previous summer with friends visiting from Japan. They both got Covid, which threw everything off. Megan was kind enough to let me reschedule for this year. I came solo with my two dogs and we all had a great time. We went for walks all over the expansive, forested property, and I enjoyed the hot tub by the river, with some snow still left on the ground. The place feels far from civilization, but I was able to have delicious Indian food delivered in less than an hour because the house is actually pretty close to town. I loved the king bed in the primary bedroom and the lack of tv. I didn't have phone service, but their internet is superfast and I was able to make calls via wifi no problem. I would love to return some day if I can. Thanks Megan and family!
Our stay at Megan's was fantastic. This is a beautiful home in the woods, in a quiet and peaceful setting about 15 minutes from downtown Bend. For someone who loves nature and being outdoors this is a dream! We were able to go mountain biking just down the road, hiking nearby past many waterfalls, took a drive to stunning mountain lakes, and enjoyed the local coffee shops. Megan was easily available if we had any questions. We'd be happy to come back and stay again anytime!
I wouldn’t have known Megan and her family stayed at our home except that our plants were left happy and…alive haha, which is more than I can say when I stay at our home. ;) they were very communicative and we enjoyed knowing they had lots of fun leaving behind a lovely gift and note of thanks. Guests I’d have any time on repeat! Thanks guys!
Megan and her family were wonderful guests and a pleasure to host. They were respectful of the house rules, kept everything clean and tidy, and communicated clearly throughout their stay. I appreciated how considerate they were and how they left the house exactly as they found it. I would be happy to host them again anytime and highly recommend them to any future host
We couldn't met personally with Megan as we were on the road while they have stayed in our apartment, but the communication with them was super easy and straightforward, and also our family who have met with them, they reported that they are very nice people. We wish we could meet... :) but maybe next time. :) I hope you enjoyed your stay at our place in Budapest, and hope to see you some day in Oregon or elsewhere in this big beautiful world. :) Btw, we have used the globe you offered in Sydney - thank you so much again for offering it.
It has been a pleasure hosting Megan and her sons o a hospitality stay during their first days of discovering Germany. They are a very nice and considerate family who took great care of my place. I hope you guys will enjoy your trip. Thanks a lot for the gifts and I wish you a great time and friendly sunny weather, especially for the bike ride. Have fun!
Megan and family were wonderful guests. And took excellent care of my dog while they were here. Would be happy to have them back anytime!
We really enjoyed our time at Stephanie's home in Denver. It is a beautiful, spacious home in a really fun part of Denver with a big walkable park right next door. We loved all the fun activities in Denver. We were able to visit the "Wings Over the Rockies" air museum, which we all really enjoyed and it's super close to the house. We also spent our time at the "Museum of Nature and Science", ate a lot of delicious food, toured a candy factory, paddleboarded at a reservoir, hiked to an old abandoned dam with a waterfall nearby, and so much more. Stephanie's house was such a great central location that we were easily able to see so much! A huge thanks to Stephanie and her family for hosting us and making our stay so enjoyable.
Kirsten and Laura were wonderful guests! Right from the beginning they communicated quickly and thoroughly. They were kind and excited about the stay. Once they arrived, I could tell that they really wanted to experience things and live life like locals as they sought out the most beautiful hikes and trails and we were able to talk about some of my favorite spots. I loved knowing that they were really appreciating the property. They left the house absolutely spotless! It was a delight to return home and find it in such amazing condition. I’d recommend them to anyone as incredible guests.
Rebekah's home is beautiful! I'm not sure there is a cleaner home on PLU. It's comfortable, beautifully decorated, and in a great location. We loved visiting the Rio Tinto mine that is super close by and offers tours into the open pit mine. There are SO many fun things to do in Utah with kids. From museums zoo and aviary, amusement parks. We were so entertained and can't wait to come back. Rebekah's home overlooks a park with a large grassy area that the kids loved playing in. We had an amazing time staying here and will definitely come again.
Rebekah and family were wonderful guests! They took such good care of our home and left it cleaner than they found it. We had great communication and Rebekah and her kids were so respectful. They are seasoned travelers whom we completely trusted in our home. We'd have them back anytime!
We had such a lovely stay at Arpad’s home in Budapest. It was a nice modern apartment and was very comfortable for me and my two children. Arpad was an excellent communicator and the whole process was very easy. Budapest is such a vibrant and incredible city and Arpad’s home is so conveniently placed for easy public transport into the city in no time at all while still giving a quiet safe neighborhood to come home to in the evening. We are so happy that we got to stay there.
Uli and her home were lovely! The location was convenient to the subway station, the home was clean and comfortable, and Uli was kind and thoughtful. We appreciated so much her willingness to host me and my twin sons for our first few days in Germany. It was so nice to start out in a home with someone who could give us some guidance and suggestions for our upcoming travels.
Lou and family were wonderful guests! They left our house completely clean even though we told them not to worry because we had a cleaner coming. They were communicative and kind. We loved that they explored the beautiful forest surroundings and really made the most of being in our little slice of heaven. We’d have them back anytime!
We loved staying in the Menn Family's home. Maui is such a lovely island and their home made our stay so comfortable. Our kids loved having toys to play with, and the Menns were easy to communicate with and just all around great people.
We absolutely loved ur stay at Eric’s place. It is clean and bright and in such a wonderful location. We could be to SLC in 20 minutes or stay up in Park City and enjoy all the fun outdoor things to do there—like Olympic park which you’re hiking distance from. There anre bike trails everywhere, delicious restaurants, and amazing fall colors! Eric was communicative and fantastic to work with. If you’re lucky enough to spend time with their dog, Noble, you will adore him. He is the most obedient dog I’ve ever had the pleasure to spend time with and he’s sweet as can be. My boys and I loved him and talk often about how we hope to spend more time with him in the future!
Lisa and Mitch's house was beautiful! The views from their back windows are stunning, especially as the fog rolls in and out, morning and evening. We loved spending time with their super sweet dog, Keisha. And we enjoyed every second of the activities in and around Petaluma. The home itself is very comfortable, clean, and warm. There was plenty of room for our traveling party of 6 and Lisa and Mitch were so generous with the use of food and supplies in their home. They even left us a basket of supplies so we could have s'mores while we were there. Amazing hosts and such a great stay!
Vincent and his group were amazing guests! They left the house in perfect condition and reached out to make sure there wasn't more they could do. Then I came home to find a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a thank you note with hand drawn art my kiddos loved, and even some "Thank You" ice cream in the freezer! Honestly, Vincent is the kind of guest that convinces you the PLU lifestyle is the way to go! We loved sharing our little slice of heaven with a group whom we knew was really appreciating all of it! We'd welcome them back anytime!
We really enjoyed having Rhiannon and her cute family in our home. They were our first swap and they treated our home well and left things in order. They communicated and were responsive and we would gladly have them back anytime! We can't wait to get to their beautiful home in a few months!

We are Megan & Garrett and our twin 10 year old boys. We worldschool so we travel many times each year when we aren’t enjoying our home base in Bend, Oregon. We love exploring new places and dive in to learn all we can about the culture and history of the places we visit. My passion is bringing literature to life through travel so we always pick some family books to read aloud together about the places we go. ❤️
