Street view of our home in the summertime.
Our house on a wintry day in January
Front door entry into our living room. Wood-burning fireplace used in the winter. Also have forced air heat throughout the house.
Our adjoining kitchen
Our main bedroom with queen bed. A small bathroom adjoins with full shower.
Our guest bedroom with queen-size bed
Here is our dining room, with our family (two sons & daughter-in-laws). Chuck was our photographer.
The Sitting room with sofa bed. This room has a door that leads out to an upper deck with stairs leading down into the back garden
The backyard when it is in its summer mode. Our Garden room is in the corner and it also has a sofa bed in it.
Chuck is entertaining the Riddle Road neighborhood children with his super big soap bubbles.
The guest bathroom with tub and shower combined
And another picture of our front yard, this during the street's Halloween event. Chuck is in his Gigante wolf costume and I am the accompanying witch.
This is the side yard, taken from our front door. We spend a lot of time outside when the weather is nice!
Taken from one of several bridges in our village that cross over seasonal creeks. This one runs merrily alongside the Jack London Saloon, a place we often walk to, to have a drink on their patio, listen to music on summer Thursdays.
The heart of Glen Ellen, standing on the corner of the main grocery store, and looking across at the Jack London Saloon.
Jack London State Park in the fall. The park is a mile from the heart of our village, a fairly steep grade up the hill. We do walk up sometimes, but also use the car if taking a longer hike within the park.
View from the Jack London State Park museum, housed in Charmaine's House of Happy Walls.
Jack London's Wolf House that burned before he and Charmaine were able to move in.
Vineyards abound and in the fall add color to our summertime dry hills.
Springtime wildflowers in our regional park down the street
The regional park in the springtime
Hiking above our valley with the town of Glen Ellen and neighboring communities below. Note the summertime grasses that usually loose their fresh green by May.
Taking a dip in the lake in our regional park on a warm day.
Had to post this with the caption that we do have wildlife about: wild turkey, deer, coyotes, fox, skunk, rattlesnakes, and at least one raccoon that seems to like our garden at night.
The mouth of the Russian River and the town of Jenner at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, about an hour drive from our house. We like to kayak here.
Our two kayaks, here loaded up with camping gear for a one overnighter at Lake Sonoma
Further north along our coastline, in the Salt Point State Park area, past the Russian Fort Ross
Typical coastal beach in Sonoma County. Surfers use wetsuits as the water is icy cold.
Another stretch of beach at Point Reyes Natl. Seashore, north of San Francisco. Day trip for us.
One of many nearby events that include farmers markets, music, festivals like the Butter and Egg Festival in Petaluma and the Apple Blossom Festival in Sebastopol. This is our county fair held in Santa Rosa in the summer.
View of San Francisco from our Sausalito house-sit a year ago. Visiting "The City", as locals refer to it, is a must for visitors coming to our part of the world. The Golden Gate Bridge is an hour away from our house. Sausalito is a town before the bridge where you can catch a ferry over.
