General overview

We live in the heart of the Bohemian quarter of Brighton, with beautiful sea views, the pier and beach just moments away. It was built in the Regency period and is steeped in history but remains a light, airy and beautiful home. It is ideally located to explore the unique shops and cafes which are a short stroll away

The space

The accommodation is arranged over 4 floors with the ground floor comprising the newly refurbished garden/utility room with french doors that lead into the walled, courtyard garden On the first landing there is a shower room with stairs that lead up to the open plan sitting room/dining room. There is a balcony at the front of the house which we ask guests not use but the French windows give directly on to the street with oblique views of the sea. Wooden floors have recently been laid in this room with attractive rugs at either side. A floor to ceiling window is at the other end of this room so that it has full sunlight in the morning and the evening sun. The next two flights of stairs lead to the kitchen which has a large breakfast bar and is equipped with a dishwasher and two Miele ovens and a separate hob. The breakfast bar is great for relaxed meals and cooking. Next to the kitchen is the Master Bedroom with ensuite bathroom which has wooden shutters. It also has sea views. It has the original wooden floorboards with a large mat for comfort and warmth. On the top floor holds the front bedroom with bow windows, sea views and a large double bed. Behind it, the third bedroom has two single beds which can either be used as a day bed or can be changed into twin beds. Both rooms have original fireplaces (not working. The original floorboards are on this floor with rugs in place in each room as well.

Guest access

There are four floors in the house and although the stairs are wide and shallow, this would not be a suitable property for a person with mobility issues. There is no cooker in the garden room but there is a large fridge freezer and offers the choice to eat in this room or the garden depending on the weather.

Notes

Phoebe is our adorable German shorthaired pointer who is well known in the area. The house would be suitable for medium or large dogs, but small dogs might find the stairs challenging. We like to take Phoebe with us wherever we go, so are open to well behaved dogs living in our home.

Neighbourhood

Kemptown is a thriving Bohemian area popular with artists and musicians. There are lots of antique shops, coffee shops and restaurants, and plenty of opportunities to listen to live music. Our annual festival takes place in May and the city is bursting with creativity. It is about a ten minute walk to the famous Laines and no more than 5 minutes from the pier

Getting to my home

Brighton has direct trains from Gatwick airport and also has excellent rail links to London, the South West and Cambridge

Nearest airport

Gatwick airport is approximately 40 minutes by a direct train link and a similar time by car

Getting around

We are very well placed for on foot sight seeing but if you are tired we have a fantastic bus service that goes all over the city and out to famous locations such as Stanmer Park, the Seven Sisters national park, the South Downs national park and Stanmer Park

Neal & Veryan

Neal and I are retired and enjoy spending time travelling within the UK & Europe. We also love walking so any destination that provides opportunities for walking would be ideal. Home for us is in Brighton, the city by the sea, well known for its artists, musicians and bohemian vibe.
