We have a home that is quite rare in Southern California: an original 1929 Spanish Revival. It is decorated in the classic Mexican style and emphasizes outdoor living, with a built-in barbecue, outdoor refrigerator, and an expansive brick patio.
The space
Our home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms, and also features a dedicated office perfect for remote work. It is a fairly open plan house and is filled with sunshine and hardwood floors. Our kitchen has been remodeled within the past few years with all-new appliances. We are on a quarter-acre and have a large backyard with fruit trees (passion fruit, lime, guava, lemons, persimmons, and pomegranate).
Guest access
One story; a total of six steps leading from street level to front door.
Notes
We have three affectionate, well-mannered cats whose care and affection come with the house :) We also have a fish tank with some low-maintenance fish who appreciate being fed.

Neighbourhood
The beach (Carlsbad) is a mile down the hill from our home, as is downtown Carlsbad Village, full of boutiques and restaurants. We live in a quiet residential neighborhood with a view of the ocean from the street. The library is a five-minute walk. Legoland is no more than a 10 minute drive. Sea World is a 40 minute drive south.
Getting to my home
We are a 40 minute drive north from central San Diego; an hour north from the Mexican border; an hour south of Disneyland and 1.5 - 2 hours south of Los Angeles.
Nearest airport
San DIego International Airport is 40 minutes away by car; John Wayne International is 50 minutes away. Los Angeles International is approximately 1.5 hours away.
Getting around
We are about a 15 minute walk to downtown Carlsbad Village. Reciprocal car exchange is a possibility.

We are a family of four-- two educators (a college English instructor and a speech-language pathologist) and two students (our girls are 14 and 10). We are all adventurous and eager learners... we are usually either reading, writing, visiting with friends, or outdoors.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
