General overview
Family friendly vacation home is in a great location and is a fun get-away in all seasons. This is a family vacation home that we share with renters on dates when we are not using it. The house has a fun tire swing, lots of movies, games, books and Foosball. In 2009, we upgraded the kitchen with granite kitchen counters, new sink, faucet, refrigerator, floors, and dishwasher. In 2021, while stuck home due to the pandemic, we added A/C, a new stove/oven, and remodeled both bathrooms.
The space
The Cabin is at 4,300 foot elevation in the Blue Lake Springs neighborhood in the town of Arnold, about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from San Francisco or San Jose. The cabin is across the street from the pool/pond at Snow Flake Lodge. Bear Valley Ski Resort is about 30 minutes away depending on conditions. This cabin is on one of the first roads plowed and has easy Hwy 4 access to Bear Ski Resort. The house is about 2 hours from the valley floor in Yosemite.
Guest access
Stairs up to the main level which has a great room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms (the "Bear Room" and the "Reindeer Room"). The loft upstairs has 2 beds and a full bathroom. The washer and dryer are located downstairs.
Notes
There are lots of great hikes, restaurants, wineries and lodge facilities across the street including tennis, basketball courts, shuffle board, pond, swimming pool, etc.
We also have a game room with a pool table and darts that makes for lots of fun!

Neighbourhood
The neighborhood is filled with trees, cabins and wildlife and is across from the Snowflake Lodge, pool, pond, tennis courts, basketball courts and snack shack. There are lots of hikes nearby and the back of the house backs up to Calaveras Big Trees State Park in California. In town there are several cute coffee shops, nice restaurants, a well stocked grocery store and a few sporting stores.
Getting to my home
The cabin is about a 3 hour drive from our main home in the Bay Area. It is also about 3 hours from the San Francisco airport.
Nearest airport
San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland or Sacramento airports are each about 2-3 hours away.
Getting around
You will need a car. In the winter (Dec - March) you'll want 4-wheel drive and/or chains if we revive snow. Sometimes we do have snow.

Roxanne
We are Roxanne and Doug and we bought our vacation home in the Sierra Nevada mountains, California, in 2004 (#1439). We have enjoyed it in every season. We live in the Bay Area (about 3 hours away, #3167) and enjoy the pool, lakes, wineries, tennis courts, restaurants, hiking, kayaking, lakes, skiing at Bear Valley and BBQ'ing and eating on the deck at the cabin. We both attended Cal Poly in SLO and love the Central Coast. We also have a home near wineries in Morgan Hill CA (#2570; allows day trips to Carmel, Monterey, Pacific Grove, Capitola, Aptos, Santa Cruz, San Francisco).
