General overview
A bit of old world charm, spacious and yet cosy with wooden beams, and wooden and stone floors. Nestled in a cute lane in the old part of the village. You are in a detached house on the edge of the countryside, but have access to many useful amenities including several English pubs, local supermarkets and takeaways within walking distance.
This village is a great central location with excellent transport links to many of the south of Englands great attractions.
Locally there are nice walks and easy access to The Ridgeway Path, Swindon's famous Steam Railway museum and the Designer Outlet Village.
The space
The house sits on a third of an acre plot. It has a large kitchen, the hub of the home, a lounge with access to the garden, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a utility room a lovely neighbours. There is a large drive where you can park a hire car.
Notes
Review by recent guests C&D from New York :
Greens Lane is a slice of heaven. A true oasis, surrounded by English country charm. It is the perfect getaway and a great ‘home base’ for adventuring.
The house is conveniently located in a quiet village, surrounded by lovely woods and gentle sounds of a nearby brook. Pubs and shops are a short walk away.
The house is close to the Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Convenient to Swindon, Barbury Castle, and Avebury Henge. A little further on are Marlborough and Salisbury. Stonehenge is less than an hour away, as is Bath, and Cirencester—the gateway to the Cotswalds—is a mere 30 minutes.
The house is spacious, tidy, and well appointed. We had initially anticipated dining out but loved shopping locally and cooking for ourselves in the amazing kitchen. It is bright, roomy, and filled with everything we needed to prepare and enjoy delicious meals.
The beds are very comfortable, as are the linens. The bedrooms are large and airy with plenty of windows and ample storage space for our clothes and our luggage.
There are three full bathrooms with toilets. The shower in the ensuite has very good temperature and pressure. The other bathroom upstairs has a full-size bathtub. The bathroom on the lower floor has a shower and a toilet. All were in perfect working order, clean, and bright during our stay.
The lounge is roomy and bright, with convenient access to the garden. It is quiet and has fantastic WiFi. Working remotely was effortless.
Our hosts were friendly, readily available, and fantastic communicators. They were on site to hand us the keys and walk through the house to help us get acquainted. The neighbours were very friendly and on-hand to help if any need arose.
We highly recommend Greens Lane to anyone looking to relax and unwind. We are already planning our return visit!

Neighbourhood
The immediate neighbourhood is a small village on the edge of a larger town. It has all the immediate amenities for your needs such as supermarkets and food outlets. The village has churches, library, play parks, a bmx pump track and a local sports centre. Pretty local walks. The larger town has cinemas and 2 theatres, an ice rink and more sports facilities, the Steam Railway museum and Swindon designer outlet village.
Getting to my home
We are an hour and half way between Heathrow and Bristol airports. It is possible to get trains or coaches from there to our local stations. The house is 15 mins by taxi from the local mainline railway station which has connections to wherever you might want to go - 55 mins from London, 20 mins from Bath, 30 mins to Bristol and Oxford etc.
I believe this area would be best enjoyed however if you had a hire car and would then have easy access to the downs and the Cotswolds.

Getting around
You can walk to the local shops and village pubs and walk out of the village to country walks around the area. A local bus runs regularly into the bigger towns nearby including South to Marlborough, Devizes and Salisbury
