Neighbourhood
Muhos is a great home base if you'd like to see Northern Finland. You have big city (Finnish scale :) ) Oulu really close and getting to Lapland is very easy (train or our car).
Our town, Muhos, is a small town of 9000 people approx 35 kilometers from Oulu. Muhos has everything you need for a day-to-day life, but if you want to get some culture and night-life, you'd visit Oulu.
The area we live in is safe, one family house type of area. The area is new, all houses are less than 10 years of age. It has two parks for younger kids, one brand new. The closest supermarket with food, clothing (and everything you need) is a five minute walk away. At this supermarket you can even do some of your souvenir shopping.
Getting around
You will need a car in Muhos. We do car exchanges, but if you're not comfortable doing that, you can rent one from the Oulu airport. There is public transport going to and from Oulu, but there's so much more to see than that. :)
