General overview
My home should be available most though only available for short stays at present.
Can host up to about 4 people; 1.5 bathrooms available.
Due to family commitments, I can't travel overseas or any great distances now though I would welcome a Globe for a non-reciprocal or hospitality stay to save for the future travel I'm dreaming of.
I live alone and if you'd rather have the house to yourself instead of a hospitality stay, that can usually be arranged
I'm also interested in banking non-simultaneous exchanges within Australia
I love kayaking and have a vision of especially hosting kayakers; if you are a kayaker, there is plenty of safe off-street parking for you and your beloved kayak here as well as a host of wonderful waterways suitable for kayaking within 30mins drive.
The space
Two story home.
Downstairs lounge are converted into a bedroom/lounge for guests.
It's a very pleasant and comfortable area with two large single beds which together make a King bed but can be separated if required.
In same room is also a brown sofa that could be made into a child's bed.
The house has a number of TV's and unlimited Wi-Fi.
Guest access
The house would be yours to access apart from the garage and my bedroom/ensuite and another small room not shown here.
My house is 2 story so is not really suitable for those with mobility issues/disabilities unfortunately nor suitable for young children due to fragile ceramic and artworks.
Notes
If you like nature, hiking, kayaking etc - this is the spot for you as within about 30mins drive from my house are numerous beautiful locations to explore. Some examples of these include The Hawkesbury River, Pittwater, Bobbin Head, the northern beaches, Lane Cove National Park, Sydney Harbour and so on.
Outside smoking acceptable if it's an arrangement when I'm not around as I'm an ex-smoker and I'm sure you know what ex-smokers can be like... Strictly no inside smoking please.

Neighbourhood
My suburb of Gordon is a safe, leafy area with lot's of big tree's and birdlife. There are nearby bush walks including Lane Cove National Park, nearby gyms, shops, restaurants and a great Aquatic Centre.
I'm about a 15 min walk to Gordon or Pymble shopping center's and train stations. By train it's then about 30mins to the city; also about 30mins by car to some of Sydney's beautiful beaches which can also be accessed via public transport.
There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and a shopping center in Gordon and some restaurants and cafes even closer; about a 10min walk.
Aside from the wonderful birdsong it's usually very quiet here.
You might have already heard a bit about my area as I'm actually only about 10mins drive from Drew the founder of People Like Us
Getting to my home
By car, from the north side of Sydney my house is about 6kms from the exit to M1 freeway. Once you’ve left the M1 travel down Pacific Hwy about 6kms then turn right from the left hand lane of the two landed ramp that leads to Ryde Rd (the turn off is at the major intersection of Ryde Rd and Pacific Hwy); then (almost immediately), before the turn off ramp hits Ryde Rd, take the first street left into Vale St, then first right into Ridge St then first right into Holford Crescent; there should be a little park on your left that you drive down besides to the T-intersection at the end, turn left and I am the last house on the left. Please note Holford Crescent is split into two sections – it’s not a true Crescent; if you can’t find my house you’ve probably missed the first turn off in which case you’ll have to go back into Ridge St and enter the first turnoff to Holford Crescent.
If you are driving from the city or walking from the train station travel north on Pacific Hwy then turn left at Merriwa St which is one street before the major intersection of Ryde Rd and Pacific Hwy (there is a funeral parlour on that corner). Go one block down Merriwa St, cross over Vale St where Merriwa St then changes name to Ridge St, take the first right into Holford Crescent; there should be a little park on your left that you drive down besides to the T-intersection at the end, turn left and I am the last house on the left. Please note Holford Crescent is split into two sections – it’s not a true Crescent; if you can’t find my house you’ve probably missed the first turn off in which case you’ll have to go back into Ridge St and enter the first turnoff to Holford Crescent.
Nearest airport
Sydney Airport is 31km from home, 30 mins in really good traffic or over an hour in bad traffic. If arriving in peak hour, take the train and change at Central for the T9 Northern line and get off at Gordon train station.
Getting around
Gordon train station is a 1.2km’s (about a 15min walk – there’s a bit of a hill in the 1st block, the rest is fairly flat) and from there about 25mins by train to the centre of Sydney direct. Chatswood (a big shopping centre is about 10-15mins and Hornsby similar.
Trains usually leave every 15 minutes and a lot of peak hour express trains to the city start in Gordon.
There are also bus stops about a 5min walk but I’m not familiar with buses.
Beautiful beaches are about 30minutes drive.
Gordon is considered to be a safe area and I would have no concerns walking home from the train station at night.

Kathryn is a an absolute delight. We are so happy to have met her and know that our home is in such good hands.
We are loving her photo updates of her activities in Bateau Bay and thoughtful little personal details such as photos of our packages that have arrived in the mail.
Highly recommend this lovely lady to any future exchanger - you will be lucky to have her in your home.
She has such an enthusiasm for life - (especially kayaking) that it is contagious.
I can't thank you both enough for trusting me with your beautiful home while you were away for 5 weeks. We loved staying there and I'm so pleased that you were happy with things on your return; also that we have continued with communication as you are truly, very special people. Thank you also for your kind words above.
On this websites Facebook page, I described Judy and Murray as PLU angels.
Reason being, I approached Judy and Murray whilst they were temporary members to see if they were interested in house swapping with me as I needed a place to stay in their area so as to assist a close friend who needs help and support occasionally.
When Judy and Murray heard my reasons they responded and offered their home to me as a place to stay when I wanted. They joined up as PLU members even though they didn’t require a swap as they have family near where I live nor, did they didn’t want anything in return for their kind offer.
Along with my partner, we met for coffee and it felt like meeting up with old friends; such lovely warm, open and giving people. From our conversations I admired them even more as it became obvious they volunteer their services in all sorts of ways to help the community and people in general.
Now they’ve gone away for 5 weeks and I feel honored and blessed that they have trusted me with their home whilst they are travelling and that I can come and go with my partner as I wish.
Their home is beautiful, clean, quiet, comfortable and every bit as nice, if not more as shown in the listing and if you like nature and beautiful clean beaches, the location is just amazing.
I’ve only stayed a few nights so far and am looking forward to staying more as staying there has been wonderful and has helped me out immensely – that’s why I called them ‘PLU angels’

Greetings lovely PLU people!
So you might know a bit about me, I enjoy kayaking, swimming, hiking, meditation, quiet and peaceful environments and a few wines at the end of the day.
I'm in my 60's, retired and live alone.
I've had many and varied jobs; in more recent years I've worked in the Welfare sector.
I realise it's a big thing trusting one's home to a stranger. I envisage that by the time we do that, we will no longer be 'strangers'
To help facilitate that, I'll do all I can to make you feel comfortable and no doubt, you'll want to do the same.
In my photo's you’ll find screen shots of references from my Airbnb page as both a host and a guest. (I am no longer a Airbnb host)
I can also provide great references both personally and from work if required.
Also happy to become Facebook friends and/or do live video chat so as to show you around my house and to get to know one another.
"At this stage I am mainly seeking short stays in the Central Coast (near Sydney), NSW - preferably close to the Entrance."

The back of my house at sunset - can you hear the kookaburra's?
Front of house - located in a quiet dead end street.
View from the other side of the downstairs lounge / bedroom area. This room has two large single beds which are side by side to create a King size bed yet can be separated. The brown lounge can also be converted into a child size bed. There is a big Smart Television in this room

Main bedroom for guests. (it was the lounge-room). It looks out over the huge back garden. This room has a large smart television and plenty of draw space. Smaller televisions in most other rooms. The brown sofa can be converted into a bed approx size 155x79cm; perhaps suitable for a child.
Entry way from front door towards kitchen and downstairs living area. The totems are some of my ceramic creations.
Bathroom (upstairs)
Sorry this room not available at this time
Upstairs room beside bathroom (it is next to my bedroom which will be closed off) The lounge is a pull out sofa bed suitable for two people; approximately 160cm wide. This room has a TV, cupboards, shelves and draw space.
Laundry with Miele washing machine. There's also bottled water although tap water is perfectly safe to drink - just my preference. There's a dryer too which I rarely if ever use as I like to try and conserve power so as to take care of our environment and there is a good clothes line outside.
Dining, kitchen area. This dining room table has a few extensions and there are extra chairs under the stair-well. It can comfortably seat about 8 people if required.

Messy room downstairs next to kitchen that I plan to turn into a sort of small home gym; I have a step box and weights.
My house is in a dead end street; this view is looking down the street from the end of the street that is outside my house. It's like a quiet, country lane-way yet only a block or two from a major intersection with arterial roads leading to the beach, the city and freeways; also bus connections.

Oct 23, just bought a Toyota Coaster motorhome. Plan to one day travel Aus but for now, also another option is that I'm seeking nice properties preferably within NSW or nearby to spend a few nights in my bus - especially if there's good kayaking/hiking nearby.
