We recently completed an extensive remodel of our lovely 1911 Craftsman home. There is an open floor plan, brand-new kitchen and bathroom appliances, and new windows and doors (and a skylight) that contribute to a sense of spaciousness and light.
The space
Our home has three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a beautiful deck, just off the kitchen, with great territorial views toward Capitol Hill and the University of Washington.
Guest access
By Seattle standards, our house is easily accessible (though not wheelchair accessible). The main living room, dining room, kitchen, powder room, and master bedroom suite (including a full bath and laundry) are located on the first floor. The lower level includes a large family room with television, an office area, two bedrooms and a full bath.
Notes
Despite being in such a central location, the neighborhood is very green and quiet, with numerous parks and walking paths.

Neighbourhood
Our home is located in a very sought-after, central Seattle neighborhood called Madrona. We live a mile from Capitol Hill and the Washington Arboretum, 2.5 miles from Pike Market and the University of Washington, and three miles from Seattle Center (the Space Needle)--all very walkable and easily accessible via bus. We live on the top of the hill above Lake Washington--10 blocks from beautiful Madrona beach (a lovely walk via wooded trails and pathways) and a three-minute walk from Madrona Center, home to numerous shops and restaurants.
Getting around
We are open to including a car in the exchange.

We are a middle-aged couple who are currently in flux, living temporarily in California while our daughter and her husband stay in our house in Seattle. Mike (61) is the head of an independent school and Ellen (61) is a clinical social worker (who is taking some time off at the moment). We have 3 young adult children (ages 32, 30, and 25) We anticipate returning to Seattle in June, 2023, and exploring exchange options from that point on. There is a possibility that we will continue to be tied to an academic calendar but we may be looking for longer exchanges (several weeks to a month), depending on our employment situation.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
