Neighbourhood
Neighborhood is a very peaceful and safe residential area. Lots of playgrounds, forests, ski tracks, ice rink, hiking trails in the summer. The forests have really cool trenches from the first world war. You can even pick berries in the summer and mushrooms in the fall!
Easy access all around Helsinki by public/car. Espoo has a lot to offer too! There is a modern art museum just 2 miles away, and the home museum of Akseli Gallen Kallela within a scenic walking distance.
In Helsinki you have endless opportunities for great food and culture. From Helsinki, you can explore Tallinn or head to Stockholm for a day by ferry. Inexpensive ferries run multiple times a day, fastest ones get you to Tallinn in a couple hours. In the summer, you can also take the ferries to Åland and Visby.
Nearest airport
Helsinki main airport, 20-25 min
Getting around
Everything is walkable really. Closest store and restaurant is less than a 5min walk, a huge shopping mall with everything including a bowling alley is a 15-20min walk. Golf course 15min walk, a beautiful natural reserve with old forest, a bird tower and the sea is a 15-20 min walk. Closest beach in the summer is a short bike ride or scenic 30min walk, winter swimming is only 15-20min away. Tram and bus stops 5 min walk.
Public transport in the Helsinki area is fast, cheap and works very well.
We also have a garage and spacious drive way for parking up to three cars. Easy access to two major highways that take you quickly around Helsinki and to other major cities by car. For example beautiful Turku, Hanko and Porvoo all about 1-1,5hr away for day trips with lots to see and do.

We’re an active and adventurous bilingual (Swedish, English) American-Finnish family of 8. We love to swim and do winter sports. We are fortunate to be working for the same exciting startup that takes us around the world and let’s us be digital nomads (to the degree our kids’ schools allow.)
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
