We love that the apartment is located in one of the most famous streets of downtown Budapest: Ráday Street, where shops (Spar), schools, museums (Nemzeti Múzeum), restaurants (Jedermann, EscoBar, Claro, Maverick) are just a few minutes away. St. Stephen's Basilica and the Dohány Street Synagogue are also within walking distance (or by tram). If you want some green environment, just stroll down to the river bank of Danube (6-8 mins on foot), where you can walk, run or cycle. The location of the apartment is good, everything is easily accessible on foot and by public transport.
The Space
The apartment is a bourgeois apartment, but modernly furnished, with photos (taken during our travels) and paintings on the walls, and large bookcases. It has 100 square metres, a kitchen, a living room (with sofa bed), two toilets, a bathroom (shower and bath), a children's room (with bunk bed, down 200x160, up 90x200), a bedroom (with double bed 200x200) and a guest room (with 2 mattresses). It is ideal for four people, but can sleep an extra three people on the sofa and 2 mattresses if necessary. There is a children's room where guests can play with their toys, and a playground and sports playground nearby. On the corridor - gangway it is the last apartment, so no one passes in front of the apartment, we have put there a small table with two chairs where you can sit. You can see from there a fire wall with ivy and wild grapes and a garden.
Guest Access
The apartment is on the fourth floor, in a gangway - for those who get dizzy at heights, it can be dizzying.
The key is given by a friend and in a keybox.

This was our very first home exchange through PLU, and the experience exceeded all our expectations. Timea welcomed us warmly, and from the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. Communication was excellent throughout our stay—friendly, responsive, and effortless.
The apartment is located on Ráday Street, in an outstanding location. It is only a few minutes’ walk from the Liberty Bridge, the metro station, and the iconic yellow tram line running along the Danube. The neighborhood is vibrant and full of life, with countless restaurants, cafés, and bars just steps away. Whether you are looking for traditional Hungarian cuisine, international dining options, or simply a cozy place to enjoy your morning coffee, everything is conveniently within reach.
The apartment itself is absolutely charming—beautifully decorated, exceptionally clean, and filled with warmth and attention to detail. It offers everything needed for a comfortable and worry-free stay, and the atmosphere immediately creates a sense of relaxation and belonging. The combination of the perfect location, stylish interior, and the hosts’ genuine hospitality made this stay a truly memorable experience.
We wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation to anyone who wants to experience Budapest in the best possible way. We will cherish the memories of our stay and would be delighted to return in the future.
As a first time home exchanger, I was pleasantly surprised by how straightforward the process was. Timea guided me through it, making me feel comfortable and confident.
Their home is welcoming, clean and cosy, with everything you need for stay. We loved exploring the city and its surroundings which had a lot to offer. The location of the apartment is excellent. There are public transport stops and also restaurants neraby so you definitely won't be hungry :)
I highly recommend Timea and her home as a fabulous exchange when you are in Budapest. We met her in her son in person and they are very kind people.
Thanks to Timea our first experience was great and we can't wait for the next ones.
Thank you so much for opening your home to us!
We had a wonderful stay in Timea's home over the Easter weekend, travelling with my mother and my two young children. The location is excellent – everything is easily accessible by public transport, and we especially found the bus connections very convenient for exploring Budapest.
The apartment itself is spacious, beautifully renovated, and full of character. It felt both stylish and homely, and there was plenty of room for all of us to relax comfortably.
Thank you for making it possible for us to enjoy such a memorable Easter holiday in Budapest – we truly appreciated it.
We decided to drive to Budapest from Paris, it was a big adventure allowing us to stay one night in Colmar on the way to visit the Christmas market.
From the beginning communication was smooth, with Timi, we were given clear instructions on how to find the apartment, code etc.. and where to park the car.
If you travel by car, I Definitely would recommend the covered Balna parking, very close to the apartment and this at a very reasonable price.
Timi’s appartement is very well located next to the covered and fantastic market square!
In the same street, there is a fabulous Michelin restaurant too, « costes » we tried their tasting menu for lunch and had an incredible experience.
Tramway, subway, buses are within a few minutes walking distance. I recommend taking the Budapest card which covers some activities and unlimited transportation means.
We were very happy to find a Christmas tree to decorate, it added a special touch to our Budapest experience.
the apartment was perfect for our needs and we felt at home straight away.
Budapest is truly a beautiful city and staying at Timi was the perfect location, don’t hesitate one second to stay at theirs .
Another magical experience with PLU .
Thank you to Timi and family for your hospitality and kindness.
We have been very lucky to get to know Budapest thanks to Timi and his family.
We spent a few days in his beautiful house in the heart of Budapest, a house perfectly decorated with everything you can use, we loved the tranquility and the view of the courtyard that he had from his 4th floor.
Timi emailed us many restaurant recommendations and information.
We hope that one day they will come to Denia and we will get to know each other.
I had the pleasure of being welcomed by Pénzes family during my stay in Budapest. Their home is spacious, beautiful, and perfectly located for exploring the city, with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. They were incredibly kind and made me feel truly at home. I am very grateful for their hospitality and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a warm and comfortable stay in Budapest.

Feedback for Božo·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
Everything went very well with Bozo and his family. They found me through the PLU Facebook group and then joined the group. Communication was smooth from the start, and we quickly established a good rapport.
They kept me informed as they approached Budapest and let me know when they would arrive at the apartment. They had no trouble getting in and sent kind messages during their stay. They also watered our plants, which we greatly appreciated.
I encouraged them to enjoy the sights of Budapest and have a relaxing time, but before leaving they left the apartment in immaculate condition. They told me they had left it exactly as they had found it 😊
Overall, my experience with them was extremely positive. I would be delighted to host Bozo and his family again anytime.
Feedback for Mevlida·Non-Simultaneous exchange·3 nights
From the very first moment, communication with Mevlinda was excellent, so when we finally met, it felt as if we had already known each other. She and her family were the second guests we had the chance to meet in person—we waited for them at the gate and showed them the apartment.
They are a very kind and likeable family; they even surprised us with Slovenian delicacies, and they left the place in such perfect order and cleanliness that I was truly impressed.
We would be more than happy to host them again anytime, and we’re really looking forward to visiting them one day as well.
Feedback for Krista·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
Krista and her family spent the Easter holiday at our apartment in Budapest. We were welcomed by wonderful order when we returned from our weekend house.
We are very grateful to Krista and her family for taking such great care of our home!
Feedback for Nadege·Non-Reciprocal exchange·13 nights
Nadege and her family left our flat very tidy and in perfect order, but most importantly, they decorated our Christmas tree, so they could celebrate Christmas in our flat, and our children were also very happy to find a surprise Christmas tree waiting for them. They spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in our apartment, and I was happy that they discovered the beauty of Budapest from our flat - they even took a night cruise on the Danube. By their own admission, they felt like locals by the end of their stay. This is a great pleasure for us.
Bea and her family left our place in wonderful order; I would even say it was tidier than before :)
We have nothing but good things to say about them. They are a really friendly family. We communicated very well.
They were our second guests, and we are very happy to have had such a good experience with both of our guests.
Feedback for Esteban·Non-Simultaneous exchange·5 nights
Esteban is a very kind and friendly guy. We managed to meet him before we left and exchanged a few words. He was in Europe for a conference and visiting several places. He took great care of our flat and left it just as he found it. He even took care of our flowers. We would definitely trust him with our flat again.

We are a family of four. My husband is interested in natural sciences (he is a mathematician, he works at a leasing company), while I'm drawn to humanities (I work as a writer, translator, linguist). We both love a good book, a good movie, and when we can, we get out in nature or go on hikes. Our two children are eleven years old, a boy and a girl, and we would love to pass on the same way of life to them: the joy of travel and discovery, and open their eyes to the incredible diversity and beauty of the world’s many wonderful places.
