General overview

Please ask for availability even if our calendar does not show any availability because we do not know yet when we would like to take our summer vacation. You will love the space, the brightness and the spacious rooms on the two floors but you will definitely fall in love with: 1) the large covered terrace with outdoor kitchen, BBQ, table for 6-8 people and a lounge area 2) the salt pool with 2 terraces and plenty of space for sunbathing, the lounge area with outdoor fire and the bar leaning against the covered terrace and the table for 4 people with parasol. Please note that the pool is opened during summer from May to end of August as the weather goes down quickly after mid August and we usually not heated after August 20-25th and close it when it is time which depends of the weather of each year. We are in a residential area with neighbors but we have a large enough lot, a cedar hedge and fence that will allow everyone to find their little corner to enjoy the sun or the shade out of sight. We want your stay to be pleasant and smooth. So do not hesitate to ask us for our help for any special requests (eg: winter clothes and boots for a winter stay). If we can help you we will do it with great pleasure. We have prepared a guide of recommendations to optimize your stay in our beautiful city. We will be happy to share it with you by email upon request. We have also prepared a guide for our house to make your life easier but we are available to answer all your questions so do not hesitate to contact us before or during your stay.

The space

Our house is a large bungalow built by an architect in the 1960s. It has been renovated with care and comfort. On the ground floor you will have a closed entrance hall with a wardrobe for coats and jackets as well as hooks. You will also find a large living room with a piano, wood fireplace and smart TV with Fire Stick allowing you to watch all the channels you want. The kitchen and dining room are open plan. The kitchen has been recently renovated and has everything you need to cook with a huge island and 4 benches for a casual lunch or dinner. The dining room is spacious and can comfortably seat 10 people. The crockery in the buffet is not available for use during your stay. Please do not use it. The kitchen has two complete sets of dishes and plates (about 30) which is more than enough for your stay. In the hallway leading to the other rooms on the ground floor you will find a full bathroom as well as a closed room with a sit-stand desk, large screen, keyboard and mouse. Note that we have a high-speed WIFI network for people who would like to work remotely. The office will not be accessible during your stay, unless requested since it is my remote work office. The master bedroom is also on the ground floor and has a king bed, a smart TV, a private bathroom and a walk-in closet The covered terrace is accessible through the patio door of the kitchen and overlooks the back yard of the house. The terrace has 2 heaters to enjoy the outdoors in early spring and late fall (but not during the winter). You can have your coffee in the morning or watch a movie in the evening on the terrace which is equipped with a smart TV. An outdoor movie theater with drive-in for the enjoyment of young and old. :) The basement consists of a family room with electric fireplace, card table, dart board, workout section with treadmill, yoga mat, weights and mattress, bar section with marble counter and 4 benches, a sectional for 6 people with smart TV and video games, 3 bedrooms with queen bed and dressing room (one of the bedrooms has a TV with Apple TV). A bathroom with 2 sinks and a separate section for the toilet and shower as well as a complete laundry room (washer, dryer, counter and sink). The walk-in closets and wardrobes of the bedrooms will not be made available to you during your stay since we store fragile decorative objects or other personal items there. However, we have purchased a dresser with several drawers for each of the 3 bedrooms that are used by our family (the master bedroom and two of the 3 bedrooms located in the basement) for your exclusive use as well as a portable clothing rack which will give you plenty of space for your clothes. The fourth bedroom which is a guest bedroom has a large wardrobe with shelves and another for hanging clothes. Board games as well as books and games for young children and teenagers can also be made available. They are neatly stored awaiting your visit.

Guest access

2 floors 1 interior staircase to access the basement where 3 of the 4 bedrooms are located (12 steps) a few steps to reach the threshold of the front door and a few steps to go down to the back yard and access the swimming pool and terraces.

Notes

Our house is non-smoking and we would appreciate it if there were no occupants who smoke inside. If you wish to smoke outside, this is possible but we ask that you do not throw cigarette butts on the grounds, that you put out your cigarettes properly and dispose of them safely. Please note that we unfortunately do not have ashtrays and prefer to interact with non-smokers for all these reasons. Thank you for your understanding.

Christine

We are a family of 5 who live in the beautiful city of Quebec. I am a lawyer but work as senior director in the financial Industry. My husband Frédéric is a financial advisor. We sometimes travel as a couple and sometimes with our young adults aged 24, 21 and 18 who are now living their own adventures and trips but also like to join us when possible. Sometimes they accompany us with their boyfriend and girlfriend and as often as possible we like to bring our dog Bernadette. Our children, being university students and two of them still living at home, we are limited to traveling at certain times of the year and cannot always exchange our house at the same time as we go on vacation if children cannot come with us. But, we are open to discussing any possible exchange formula. Note: I did not check the box “dogs are welcome) since my dog is hypoallergenic and this is the reason why I can live with him but I invite you to contact me to discuss it if you wish to travel with your dog.
