Neighbourhood
The apartment is in the Sephardi area of the old town. It is Seville’s oldest area and super picturesque. The monumental area is only a 5-minute walk (this is, if you don’t get lost in the narrow cobbled streets maze leading there, which you will) yet, the main avenue where taxis and bus stop is a 3 minute walk from the flat.
Seville’s old town though is best discovered by foot so, pack comfy shoes and enjoy the walk!
There are 2 / 3 supermarkets nearby as well as grocery shops, fishmongers, pharmacies and all services you are likely to need during your stay.
There is a flamenco place right next to the apartment holding impromptu free performances every night. It is one of the oldest in Seville.
Nearest airport
Seville airport, 30 mins. by bus or 15 by taxi (30€ fixed rate)
Getting around
Best way is by foot. If you are coming by car, there are some car parks near the apartment (I’ll point those out for you). Park your car and only use it to discover the surroundings. There are no parking spaces in the old town.
The main train station is a short bus ride from the apartment and from there you can catch daily trains to Cordoba (well worth a day visit -its unique mosque-cathedral is one of my favourite buildings in the world), Granada, Cádiz or the coast.
There are lots of hiking options 1H - 1H30 from the city; la sierra de Grazalema or la sierra de Aracena (home to one of the best places for jamón serrano) are great spots to visit in spring, winter or autumn. Of course, Doñana is a must for birdwatchers and for everyone who loves nature. Likewise, the white villages are another fantastic option for a two or three-day trip away from the city. These are very picturesque, beautiful, with great food options, cheap and surrounded by a very peculiar mountain range.
An interesting day trip is to visit the Rio Tinto mines. There is an old steam train which takes you through the old iron mines and along the red-coloured river and it is great fun for the kids and quite interesting for the adults actually.
