Neighbourhood
Within a 10 minute walk is the village centre which has a small well stocked supermarket, a cafe, a Fish And Chips takeaway (with burgers and pizza), a surf shop, a children's playground with picnic tables and free BBQs and the main Dalmeny Beach. 3 sandy beaches with different aspects, a tidal lake, large wetlands with many ducks and other waterfowl, a native forest, tennis courts and also a shared walking/ bicycle trail that follows the beaches and headlands for 10 km into the neighbouring village of Kianga and on to the beautiful town of Narooma. The trail passes many excellent beaches, pristine wetlands, a brewery, parks (with facilities), cafes, wharves, a 50m heated and enclosed public swimming pool (open through Winter!) We regularly ride our bikes into Narooma along the 6km bike track. We have 2 ebikes and 2 regular bikes (both male and female) you are welcome to, use however they are well-worn family items!! . There are bike hire places in Narooma if you want newer ones. We also have 2 sit on kayaks.
A graded system of mountain bike trails was opened in December ’23 about 5 kms north of Dalmeny and suitable bikes for it can also be hired. We haven’t tried that yet.
Within 20 minutes drive there are 6 large tidal lakes, the highest free-standing Mountain in NSW, Gulaga (Mt Dromedary) at the foot of which is the Heritage-Listed village of Central Tilba (location of the River Cottage Australia TV series)
Our region is renowned for its wildlife, both aquatic and on land. Encounters with a diversity of native fauna is a daily experience. Whale watching, swimming with seals and fishing are popular tourist activities.
There are many clubs and groups that all welcome visitors , including tennis, pickleball, fishing, golf, bushwalking . Martin is in a music group which meets weekly and loves welcoming musicians. Kathie plays in local tennis competition as well as socially.
Dalmeny is a small village just 6 kms north of the commercial centre and tourist town of Narooma.
Nearest airport
The nearest airport is at Moruya which is 30 minutes north of Dalmeny.
Getting around
There are bus, taxi and uber services into Narooma and the local clubs have courtesy buses. However a car is preferable to explore the area. We have a second car which we could possibly leave for your use while staying at our home.
