Neighbourhood

Our gated community is about a 5 minute drive from the nearest town, Ajijic. It is a very quiet community of retirees and is much more quiet than the town is. In the town there are many restaurants catering to foreigners, and many things to do depending what you would like to be involved in. The foreigners are by far mostly retirees and usually don't stay out in town late but the locals do. Ajijic and the Lake Chapala area in general are not places that offer much in the way of night life. There is lots of that of course in the city of Guadalajara, an hour away. Nearest airport

The closest airport is the Guadalajara International Airport which is about 40 to 50 minutes drive away from us.

Getting around

We would consider allowing use of our car, which is a hatchback Hyundai Grand i10. Otherwise there is a bus running about every 10 to 15 minutes which will take you to all the areas of lakeside, plus many private drivers for hire at reasonable rates.
