Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood is quiet. It is called "the golden triangle" of Nantes. It is close to shops, fishmongers, butchers, organic food, bakeries... the post office is also close. Luxury establishments are nearby: Spa, shopping, ...
Do your shopping
Calm neighborhood. We are in the city center, and you can do all your shopping on foot, restaurants, creperies, caterers, markets are close. The area is well located for shopping as well.…
At the Market, here are the three main ones a short distance from our apartment:
- Petite Hollande market, 18 minutes on foot on Saturday morning. On the embankment of Île Gloriette, there are some three hundred traders, including more than two hundred and twenty regulars, on one of the largest markets in Nantes. This takes place outdoors, in the Petite Hollande car park, between the Léo Lagrange swimming pool and the Nantes media library, near the Place du Commerce. From pastries to bouquets of flowers, including clothing and mattresses, there is an astonishing diversity of products.
- Talensac market, 17 minutes on foot. This market is surely the best known and busiest in Nantes. Its age and its location in the heart of the city make it a real institution among Nantes residents. Open every morning of the week except Monday, it is distinguished by its halls steeped in history which dominate the place Talensac. It is made up of three parts: a fully enclosed space, a covered intermediate part and an open-air market.
- Zola market, 25 minutes on foot, 8 minutes by car every Thursday morning. this open-air market takes place every Thursday morning in the parking lot of place Émile Zola. Around a hundred regular traders and around twenty passengers offer meat, fish, greengrocers and other fresh produce every week, as well as ready meals, clothing and all kinds of ready-made items...
In the shops of the district and the city center:
For food, the choice is very varied and well supplied with organic food. We can provide you with our preferred addresses if you wish.
Lunch, dinner, tea or coffee break
Nantes has many good places to eat, of which we can give you the addresses that we prefer, but if you want to take your meals at home, we have a fully equipped kitchen…. A contact will give us the opportunity to talk about it if the subject interests you.
There is however an emblematic place that you will have to visit: La Cigale. Inaugurated in 1895 and classified as a historic monument, is the work of the ceramist architect Émile Libaudière. Its sumptuous ornaments combine painting on wood and painting on ceramic in shades of blue. Aesthetes admire the high ceilings, earthenware, mirrors and sculptures. To admire this masterpiece, have a tea or a coffee.
Shopping in town
For traditional shopping Nantes offers you all the brands of the big cities and other local ones that you will discover during your walks.
You cannot fail to stroll through the passage Pommeraye, one of the most beautiful covered passages in Europe, a true architectural masterpiece of the 19th century.
Getting around
Public transport passes in front of the house, the bus stop is a 2-minute walk from the house.
