Hospitality
Hospitality Description: We have two homes on our 10 acre property. We live in one and the second home is for friends and family. With an active family and children still at home we don’t exchange our primary home as there is almost always someone home. Along with pets, farm animals, garden, etc. The homes have ample space between them to feel private.

General Overview
This is such a welcoming and unique log home! We love it!
Completely renovated. Beautiful views out of every window and so warm and inviting. There are several completely unique areas both inside and out for reading, visiting, or enjoying some quiet time.
The property enjoys beautiful sunrises as well as sunsets. So whether you are an early riser who enjoys waking up with the sun or more of a wind down on the back porch watching the sunset person, we have you covered.
We are in the foothills of the San Joaquin Valley right at the 1000 foot level. We are below the snow line, but only about an hour away from skiing at China Peak. They offer winter skiing as well as summer activities such as live music and mountain biking.
Winters are fairly mild here.
Summers are very hot and dry on the valley floor. We are just slightly cooler with pleasant evenings and nights.
There is plenty of winter hiking close by and during the hotter months cooler hiking is not too far up the road from us. They are several lakes close by all at different elevations so you have year round access to all things related to lake activities. The San Joaquin River has several access points close to our home.
There is everything from a very nice zoo in Fresno to exciting river rafting on the Kings River. In between you will find wine tasting, hiking, biking, kayaking, horseback riding, rock climbing, farmers markets, fishing, boating, rodeos, concerts, restaurants, and more.
Clovis had a very good bike trail system that connects into parts of Fresno and out to the San Joaquin River area. Dwight is working on some consulting projects at the moment with this system, so he can point you in the right direction whether you like to ride in the valley or up in the mountains. He can get you pointed on the right direction.
He was also an avid rock climber and backpacker, so if that’s something you enjoy be sure to let him know.
The valley is a large farming community with a very diverse demographic of great people living here. Throughout the year there are cultural events being hosted.
Being centrally located in CA makes for many enjoyable day trips or a good jumping off point for longer trips.
We are about a 2 hour drive from Yosemite, Kings Canyon, and Sequoia National Parks.
The Central Coast is about 3.5 hours away.
The Bay Area, Napa, San Francisco are all about 3.5 hours.
Las Angeles is south 4 hours.
The Space
Our home is set up for comfortable and casual living.
Fully equipped for preparing meals, reading, enjoying nature, or a quiet place to work.
There is a recently tuned piano and a tv in the living room along with a wood burning stove.
The bedroom has a king sized bed, many windows, vaulted ceiling, a variety of lighting options, ceiling fan, and private bath. There is a large closet and there are extra linens as well.
A sitting room is attached to the bedroom for a cozy place to enjoy a good book. You are able to step outside anytime from the bedroom through French doors or a large sliding door.
Several outdoor areas are available complete with porch swing, outdoor table, chairs, and benches. There is a seasonal creek at the back of the property.
The home has three separate split units for comfortable heating and cooling.
The home is located close to the main road, so there can be some road noise noticeable when you are outside, but the thick log walls make inside a quiet sanctuary.
(We typically have more traffic on holiday weekends)
We will be purchasing a new washer and dryer for guests. They are not installed at the moment, but will be in place for any future guests.
Guest Access
The guests have access to the complete main floor. There is a loft space that is used as a studio work space that is not set up for guest use at this time. Don’t worry- we won’t be using it when you are here. ;)
All entrances have steps of some sort, so please note that. There is plenty of parking, but not covered or garage parking.
Notes
We are in a neighborhood of large properties, so you have plenty of space, but we do have neighbors that you will see. So, we are not “off in the woods” quite. But you will have plenty of privacy.

Neighbourhood
We are in the rural foothills of the Central Valley. Rolling hills, oak trees, grasses, cattle, horses, and wildlife are all a part of the scenery here.
Our home sits on 10 acres with adjoining properties about the same size. There are many acres of large ranches and open grazing land. The oak and manzanita trees turning to pine trees and cooler temperatures just up the road about 30 minutes.
There is a market in Prather along with fuel, CVS, post office, food options, ACE Hardware, and a few other places.
Prather is about 10 miles from our home.
Clovis is the closest larger town.
Getting to my home
The closest airport is the Fresno Yosemite International Airport located in Fresno, CA.
When driving you will come up highway 168 from Fresno or Clovis.
If you are coming from one of the National Parks I can give you specific directions as needed.
You will need a car in this area.
If you plan on a winter visit and want to go up into the higher elevations you will need tire chains/cables or a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Weather dependent.
You are required by law to carry chains/cables even with a 4-wheel drive vehicle in CA.

Dwight and Jodi
Hello- We are a couple who loves to travel, meet new people, see new places, and enjoy life’s ever changing dynamics.
We have a large family of seven children from around the globe, (ages 30-15 years old) two son-in-laws, and our first grandchild will makes it’s appearance mid-May of 2025.
We live in a beautiful area of California that we are excited to share with others. We have done informal home exchanges, house sitting, hosting, and a Hipcamp site.
The complete renovation of our log home is wrapped up and we have enjoyed sharing it with friends and family. Excited to join this community and meet some of you.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.

Old Town Clovis.
Farmer's Market, craft beer, rodeo, dining. coffee, antiques, and more.
Fresno Chaffee Zoo- We have lion cubs, baby elephants, and much more. They have really made this zoo a special place over the years.
This is definitely a one-of-a-kind place and worth a visit. Tucked in the heart of Fresno- you don’t want to miss this while here.
It is close to the zoo, so combining visiting both in a day is very doable.
Shinzen Gardens is located in Woodward Park in north Fresno. A beautiful area with an impressive display of bonsai trees.
