Neighbourhood
Our house is situated on the countryside between the cities Vänersborg, Uddevalla and Trollhättan, all about 20 minutes by car. Here you can find good restaurants and pubs and several supermarkets.
Our house is surrounded by forests with a big fishinglake just 500m away and a smaller lake to swim in only 2 km away. In the summer you can find mushrooms (cantharel) in the forests.
Swedens second largest city Gothenburg is a little over an hour by car. Here you find the amusement park Liseberg, several museums, botanical garden, a lot of restaurants and all the shopping you want.
There are two mooseparks in the neigbourhood (40 km and 80km). About 60 km to the coast is Nordens Ark, a zoo for endangered animals, where they breed species and try to put them back in the nature somewhere in Europe.
The sea is only 20km away in Uddevalla which lies in a fjord and has several good swimmingspots. For the typical coastal scenery with cliffs and rocks you have to drive a bit further to Lysekil, Smögen or Grebbestad where there are several naturereserves where you can hike. The coastal area is also popular for rock-climbing.
In the summertime the swedish westcoast is fantastic. Take a roadtrip along the coast and visit the beatifull fishing villages or small islands where they offer swimming, boating, kayaking, scuba-diving and seafood-restaurants.
To the east lies Vänersborg by the biggest lake of Sweden, Vänern. There is also an indoor adventure-swimmingpool. In Trollhättan you find the Trollhättan falls where they control the waterlevel with a locksystem over a total height of 32 meter. Outside of Uddevalla lies a go-karttrack and there are several golfcourses in the area.
For bad weather acivities for children there is a big indoorplayground in Uddevalla and in Trollhättan you find Hop'n Pop (an indoor trampoline- and parcourparc) and tecnicalmuseum Innovatum.
