General overview
2 bedroom, 1 bath home with plenty of room to spread out. Private yard, great location. Our house is not by any means a luxury home, but it is comfortable for our family of four, and we hope it will be for your family as well. We are in the process of beautifying it in preparation for a home exchange, so please check back for updated photos.
We are mainly looking for a six-month exchange for a home in the UK, but are also open to shorter exchanges closer to home during school breaks.
The space
Comfortable, well laid out older home with lots of charm. All rooms are centered around a central “hall”Large living room with TV, nice sounding piano. Bathroom with shower over tub. Kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher, dining area. Two bedrooms, one with king bed, the other with twin over full bunk beds. Front yard long drive (shared with one neighbor) with basketball hoop, tree swing, patio table with umbrella, and barbecue. Back yard is very private and features an outdoor shower, a deck with more patio furniture, a detached workshop that doubles as a home office, and recently added hot tub.
Guest access
All rooms are on the ground floor (there is a separate flat upstairs), but there are two steps to get into the house, making it not wheelchair accessible.

Neighbourhood
You will love this quiet, safe, family oriented neighborhood. Green Acres elementary school (ages 5-11) is located practically across the street. The school also has a playground that's open during off hours and weekends. For older kids, Shoreline Middle School (ages 11-13) and Harbor High School (ages 14-18) are within easy biking or walking distance.
Two parks with children's playgrounds are also located within walking distance. One of these has a skate park and the other a pump track for BMX bikes.
Since the neighborhood is primariliy residential, there aren't a lot of shops and restaurants within walking distance, but there is a small market about half a mile away.
We are 2.5 miles from the beach, and about 3 miles from Santa Cruz's vibrant downtown area.

San Jose Mineta airport.
Getting around
It's best to have a car for transport in this area, as public transportation is limited. A car exchange is an option, or you there are numerous car rental agencies in the area.
