Neighbourhood
Belgrave is a lively little town with friendly people surrounded by the lush, ferny Sherbrooke forest. A variety of cafes, restaurants, bars and shops cater to both mainstream and alternative living. Belgrave offers international cuisine, locally grown food and wine, live music venues, art, cinema and is the home of the Puffing Billy steam train.
An outdoor heated pool (open Oct - Mar) and playground are about a 5 minute walk (maybe a bit longer if you have little ones in tow). Belgrave train station is about a 12 minute walk and just beyond is the main part of town.
There are numerous parks, public gardens and nature trails within a short drive. Villages nearby offer a variety of markets (both art and produce), gourmet food and wine, and art galleries.
For easy day trips - Yarra Valley wineries, Healesville Santuary, Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island, and Melbourne CBD are all within an 1 1/2 hr drive from our home.

Getting around
Belgrave train station is about a 12 minute walk from our house. The train to Melbourne CBD takes about an hour. Just beyond the train station is the main part of town with cafes, shops, grocery store, free range butcher, cinema (including outdoor movies in warmer months) and the Puffing Billy.
We recommend you have a car in order to take advantage of all the area has to offer.
