Welcome to our private retreat space in the forest next to one of the largest, deepest lakes in Atlantic Canada. Our family (Mom, Dad, two boys ages 15 and 10, plus Walter the cat who is the boss!) recently relocated to this space in January 2022. Over the next year we will be building geodesic domes to host guests, a wood burning sauna, cobb pizza oven and gardens to feed everyone - lots to come and explore. We are 15 minutes outside the small town of Antigonish, 2 hours from the capital city and one hour from the world famous Cape Breton Island but this is a very small region - less than 1 million people in the entire province!
The space
The house is a bungalow with two bedrooms upstairs (queen bed, single bed), one bedroom downstairs (queen bed) and a separate bedroom in the loft of the barn located steps away from the house with another queen and a single bed too. Two bathrooms (one up, one down), full kitchen, and surrounded by trees and private hiking trails, this home is your own secluded oasis. With extensive landscaping, stone walkways & a huge front & back deck and a new hot tub (2021), we know you'll love it here!

Neighbourhood
We live in a rural lakeside community popular in all seasons but particularly active in summer (June-October). With walking/snowshoe trails in the winter and paddleboards, kayak and canoe to share in the summer our "neighbourhood" is a very active outdoor space. We live a two minute walk from a large community centre (tennis court, public dock and beach area) and rowing club. 'Cottage country' has one/two stores with very basic amenities but all groceries, pubs, shops are located in the town of Antigonish which is a 15 minute drive away. Many cute microbreweries, shops and restaurants to visit and we would be happy to make suggestions!
Getting to my home
Air travel will get you to Halifax, Nova Scotia and we are located 2 hours away by paved highway. We are located 15 minutes outside the small town of Antigonish, 2.5 hours from the capital city Halifax, and one hour from the world famous Cape Breton Island and the Cabot Trail.
Nearest airport
Halifax Stanfield International Airport is 2 hours away

We are a family of four, Mom and Dad and two boys (10 and 15), ready to stretch our travel legs after two pandemic years at home! Introduced to PLU by friends in Canada who have been home swapping for years, we have just purchased a new home in an idyllic forest retreat region and are keen to share this beauty in exchange for another heart-centered home. Very excited to be part of this community and keen to explore new travel opportunities. We are very tidy and respectful, and will treat your home like it was our own.
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
