Chris and I are both teachers, so we enjoy traveling when school is not in session. We introduced our kids to traveling early, so they are quite knowledgeable and frequently have ownership in the planning. We are excited about the opportunity to share our beautiful area of East Tennessee with people all over the world!
We live in beautiful East Tennessee with the Smoky Mountains in our backyard. Within an hour, we can be hiking, kayaking, rafting, camping, and exploring the wonders of Appalachia. We are also very centrally located to major cities - Atlanta (2.5 hours), Nashville (2.5 hours), Asheville (2 hrs), Charlotte (5 hrs.), D.C. (8 hrs), and NYC (10 hrs) - by car.
Knoxville is a friendly, progressive city of about 250,000 people. We live in west Knoxville which allows us to escape the city-life, but have it close enough to be involved in the great opportunities Knoxville has to offer. Our downtown hosts a plethora of weekly cultural events; we are a hot spot for civil war history; we are home to the largest land grant institution in the state - The University of Tennessee. Also, we are only an hour away from the attractions of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. There are always things going on in our area.
