General Overview
We live in an adorable home on a charming street with craftsmen houses in historic downtown Columbia, right outside of Nashville, TN!
Our house is bright, clean, cozy and comfortably furnished, within walking distance to the arts district and downtown Columbia with its cute boutiques, historic buildings, coffee shops and restaurants.
Columbia is a quintessential small Southern town, where everyone is kind and friendly and the town itself is picturesque, with lots of local things to see and do.
They have filmed hallmark movies here so it’s a perfect place to have a cozy Hallmark-Christmas or to relax away from the hustle and bustle of Nashville.
We are walking distance to the Mule House Venue if you want to see a show, and to the Historic Polk House and Athenaeum if you’re a history buff.
We love that our home is far enough away from Nashville to have a slow, small town feel, but close enough to drive into the city to see a show or have a fun night on the town for some more excitement.
The Space
Our home is newly furnished and in walking distance to downtown Columbia :)
Depending on how many are in your party we may just offer one bedroom instead of 2. We’d mostly prefer parties of 2 but can accommodate up to 4 adults.
If you are comfortable with kids sharing the bed with you, or with us providing a cot or a floor mattress, we can host kids as well as 4 adults.
My sister lives around the corner and has kids so we can provide amenities for kids for your stay if needed. Our house is also within walking distance to the library, a park and a kids museum.
We may be open to providing our car depending on other specifics of the exchange.
We are pretty healthy and natural-minded so we have a good water filter, non toxic soap, blackout curtains and salt lamps for better sleep, greenwave filters for dirty electricity, and we use minimal fragrances in our home- mostly just essential oils. We also love to use high quality bedding made of natural fibers for our beds, and we have an air doctor filter to keep the indoor air clean. We’d love to give you any recommendations on local farmers markets or fresh foods!
People say they love the huge comfy couch in our living room, the walk-ability of Columbia, and hearing the downtown clock bells chime!
Guest Access
You will have access to our entire home and our space— including our living room with large 4K tv, kitchen, guest room with a queen bed, and bathroom.
Depending on how many are in your party we can also give you access to our primary bedroom with king bed and our office if you work remotely and need an office space.
As we occasionally have other guests staying when we travel, we often have our room and other spaces locked up so we would need to be notified of that ahead of time to keep them open for you!
If you are in the area and need a hospitality stay please reach out to us. We love to host and we have a guest room and 2 airbnb's!
Notes
Something to be aware of is that we also put our home on Airbnb when we travel (if we aren’t hosting friends or other home exchange guests), so we may ask for a specific check out or check in time so the cleaner can make sure it’s ready for you or for the next guest.
If we are traveling a lot, the house will be more basic and sparse like an Airbnb so we can host different guests. If it’s a simple exchange, we will leave more of our photos and home items and health things (water & air filter, salt lamps, non toxic soap, linen sheets etc) so it will feel more like someone’s home than an Airbnb. :)
Our home also has two attached Airbnbs that other guests might be staying in, so keep in mind there may be other people on the property at the same time as you. You won’t see or interact with them, as they don’t share any entrances or living spaces with you, just a parking area. :)
It is a private and safe parking area in the back of the house.
Those airbnb's also might also be open if you need a hospitality stay, or want to do a non reciprocal stay with us while we are in town.

Neighbourhood
We are in the heart of charming downtown Columbia, Tennessee, and within walking distance to SO much! We LOVE our location and our adorable neighborhood!
We are a very short walk to the The Polk House and gardens (where James Polk the 11th president of the US lived) and the Athenaeum, the first girls school in America. Both are amazing historic tours to take. Also around the corner are boutique stores, antique stores, home goods stores and a plant store!
We are a very short walk to the Mule House venue which often has great concerts and shows to watch.
You can walk right down the street to Red Seven Pizza and customize your own pizza, or walk to the Columbia square for a variety of other restaurants.
In the square we recommend Pucketts, Southern Tre, The Bourbon Gospel, and Mule Town Coffee. The Square also has a great health food and store and lots of antique stores and boutique stores. The square also has a fun kids museum!
We recommend walking down High Street and enjoying the lovely old southern homes on your walk and ending at Bradley Mountain Coffee for amazing coffee, great vibes, and locally made leather goods. You could also eat at Mama Mila’s- delicious homemade Italian food!
A short walk down High street will also take you to the Columbia Arts District with second hand stores, our favorite local bakery - Prevail Bakery - and Hank's Coffee Station, a quirky and delightful coffee shop.
A few blocks from our house is the library which has a whole floor and play area for kids and the kids museum which also provides endless entertainment for kids!
Within driving distance (or a 20 min walk) is the Columbia Factory with one of our favorite brunch spots- August Sage!
And then we also love to go to Maury County Park and walk or watch the sunset!
If you like locally grown/health food we are a short drive to the farmers market snd have lots of local farmers and butchers in town. Also every summer Columbia hosts the national homesteaders convention which you might be interested in joining.
Getting to my home
If you are driving in, we will give you the address and you can park at the house, we have a large parking space behind our house. If you are flying in we recommend renting a car or getting an uber, or if we are around we could pick you up!
I have heard there is an airport shuttle but I would have to do more research to confirm that and to give you information on how to use it.
The house is about a 45-50 minute drive from the Nashville airport, and an hour drive from the Huntsville, Alabama International airport.
Nearest airport
BNA- Nashville International airport
HSV- Huntsville, Alabama International airport
Getting Around
To get to the airport or into Nashville, you will need a car or will have to take an uber.
Columbia also has an adorable local trolley which makes lots of stops around town and stops right near our house so you can use it to get around.
But our home is very walkable and we often walk to most places we need to go.
We are walking distance to downtown Columbia and the Columbia arts district so you can walk to many coffee shops, restaurants and boutique shops.
There is also a health food store and another grocery store within walking distance, as well as the library, and the post office.
We are within a very short walk of The Polk House (where James Polk the 11th president lived) and the Athenaeum, the first girls school in America. Both amazing historic tours to take.

Alyssa
We have traveled and lived all over but are currently enjoying small town life in Columbia TN, outside of Nashville, as Logan is in the music industry.
Alyssa grew up in Asia and lived in Europe for a while and we both lived in California for 9 years.
We love to visit old friends in the places we’ve lived and also go on new adventures. We have done a lot of pet sitting and house sitting in the past and stayed with so many people as we’ve traveled (to over 30 countries!) but we are new to the home exchange world and excited to try it out.
Our dream one day when we are parents would be to world-school our kids!
We are low maintenance and easy going, and we work remote so our schedules are very flexible. We love an excuse to travel somewhere new and make new friends and good memories!
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
