Conveniently located within steps of downtown restaurants, shopping, the casino, art gallery and the ever so popular Palm Springs Street Fair. It is possibly one of the best locations to enjoy the energetic lifestyle of Palm Springs.
There is plenty of free, off-street visitor parking next to the building.
Iconic Villa Alejo was built in the 60's in the classic Mid-Century Modern style to house Hollywood stars who partied with the "The Rat Pack" (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Joey Bishop, amongst others) as it is just along the street from Frank Sinatra's house.
Palm Springs makes an excellent jumping off point for trips to Joshua Tree National Park, the Indian Canyons, the Aerial Tramway (up to 8,500 ft), Big Bear Lake, Yosemite, Mt San Jacinto State Park, LA, Las Vegas and San Diego, all of which are less than 2 hours away (traffic permitting) and much cooler.
The building has a launderette (we have our own washer and dryer too), a BBQ, pool, Jacuzzi and gardens. We have a dining table, chairs and a lounger on our patio (see photo) which is at the front of the unit. There is also a space heater for then the temperature drops after sundown (we are in the desert remember).
The space
There is one bedroom and bathroom available and a generous living/dining space and dine-in kitchen.
The bedroom has a queen size bed.
Villa Alejo is a non-smoking building.
No pets please.
Guest access
Keys will be available by lockbox or from a neighbour.
Level access from the guest parking area on our side of the building as we are on the ground floor.
The building entrance has a wide door and the condo has double doors.
The condo is on one floor.
The island in the kitchen can be moved to make access easier.
However, the unit was never designed to be disabled-access friendly and the central passage linking the bedroom and bathroom is only door frame width. The bedroom has a large opening to the living room with a pocket door.
Notes
The weather in Palm Springs is warm and dry throughout the year, but please note average highs in the mid-30's to early 40's in the months of June, July, August and September. Having said that, the pool is always at a comfortable temperature and the unit has strong central Aircon.

Neighbourhood
At the beginning of the Movie Colony and just one block from the vibrant Palm Canyon Drive (the Main Street in Palm Springs) with literally hundreds of restaurants, bars, shops and galleries to access on foot.
Free entry to the (very good) contemporary art museum on Thursday evenings, followed by a street market along Palm Canyon Drive featuring street food, artwork, clothing and farmer's market produce. All a few minutes walk.
Getting to my home
It is best to bring or hire a car as this is California, but it is easy to arrive by plane to Palm Springs airport (a short cab ride away) or by Flixbus from LA central bus station (linked to the airport by a shuttle bus) which stops just off Hwy 10 further up Indian Canyon Drive.
Nearest airport
Palm Springs airport is 2.5 miles from the condo, but it is cheaper to fly into LA and hire a car at the airport. Palm Springs is approx 100 miles/2 hours from LAX.
Getting around
Buses run on Palm Canyon and Indian Canyon Drives which are right next to Villa Alejo and pass supermarkets, shops, the regional hospital (2 blocks), etc. The casino is one block South of the building if you're inclined!
What a wonderful stay we had at Peter and Teodora’s Palm Springs oasis! Their condo is beautiful, roomy, comfortable, and fits perfectly into the mid-century modern feel of downtown Palm Springs. The location is outstanding, a quick drive from the airport and easily walkable into the heart of downtown. Lots of parking. The large courtyard setting at the property, with gorgeous palm trees around the pool, could be used by the Palm Springs tourism association! It feels so wonderfully “Palm Springs”.
Peter was a great host, very communicative and genuinely caring to make sure we had a good time while staying at their condo, which we certainly did. We loved our stay.
we (Cheryl and Ken ) stayed at Peter and Teodora's lovely home in Palm Springs while we attended the Indian Wells tennis tournament.. Though we have not met in person we feel like we just may gave made new friends. They made us feel welcome and at home. Communications were always timely, accurate, clear and comprehensive.
Their place is ideally situated only a short block from a street with all the dining, shopping and entertainment any one could wish for. Their home itself is spacious, comfortable and well appointed.. If we are not mistaken, the interior decorating was featured in a design magazine. The kitchen has everything one could need.
We enjoyed the pool and hot tub which are located under the palm trees just outside their front door.
We are so sorry that our plans to meet up did not work out and we very much look forward to welcoming Peter and Teodora in Ottawa .
Both of us highly recommend an exchange with these committed PLUers!
Peter and Teodora graciously shared their home while I attended a wedding in Palm Springs. Their condo is well located near downtown, highly walkable to shops and restaurants. It is comfortable, clean, spacious and has everything you need. What I truly loved about their home is that it is decorated in a cool midcentury style that fits in with the team around Palm Springs. The swimming pool is right outside the front door!
Peter had excellent communication and responded quickly( despite being in far away London)
They are an awesome couple and great representatives of the PLU community!
Peter and Teodora's apartment is gorgeous! Beautiful location, on the ground floor, with a lovely patio area, and access to the pool. Very spacious inside, clean, recently upgraded, and has everything you could want or need. Parking is available too.
The apartment complex has a lot of interesting movie star history that's really fun to learn about.
Its close to the airport, downtown area, and many sightseeing locations like the Palm Springs tramway.
Peter was always available to answer any questions, and very helpful. Thanks Peter would definitely be on our list to visit again, as there is so much to do and Palm Springs is so amazing.
Peter and Teodora's Palm Springs condo was comfortable, fully equipped and stylish. Excellent location within walking distance to dozens of great restaurants, shops and galleries. Well maintained resort style pool and hot tub in the complex courtyard. Really enjoyed our week long stay.

Peter and Teodora came while I was away so I didn’t get to meet them but we had a number of pleasant texts and I look forward to a future visit.
Peter and Teodora are amazing guests. They leave your home clean and tidy. You will forget that anyone was there! Communication is awesome and I would host them again in a heart beat.
We highly recommend Peter and Teodora, this being our first exchange, they were so kind, respectful, and helpful.
We unfortunately didn’t get to meet Peter and Teodora for their stay, but very much enjoyed communications with them leading up to and during their stay - great sense of humo(u)r! Peter and Teodora were the easiest guests, and they left our place spotless. We would welcome them back anytime!
Delightful people who know how to experience life. Articulate, funny, high-energy…would love to have them as neighbors. We plan to visit them sometime in the future. Their place looks great.
Peter and Dory are what PLU is all about! We enjoyed a fantastic stay in their Palm Springs home earlier this year and just now had the pleasure of hosting them in Gibsons. They are friendly, inquisitive, communicative, wonderful people who left our suite in pristine condition. Peter and Dory were also an absolute pleasure to get to know and to visit with. Special thanks to Peter the Photographer for taking some photos we’d been hoping to take for a long time. We’re delighted these two chose to visit us in Gibsons and we hope to see them in England some day!
Wonderful guests, wonderful friends. Peter and Dory were such a pleasure to host. They stayed with us for a few days then came back a week later and stayed on their own for a few days. They are kind, considerate and respectful. Ken and I would highly recommend any PLU member to connect with this lovely couple. Looking forward to seeing them again ‘down the road’🙌
Peter and Dora are wonderful people and fabulous guests! Peter is such a great communicator and super funny.
We loved having them as guests and would welcome them back anytime. They took wonderful care of our home and cleaned it top to bottom to get it ready for the next guests. Highly recommend!
It was an absolute pleasure to host Peter and Teodora. They were perfect guests, excellent communicators, and left our place in better shape than they found it. It's always fun to meet fellow travelers and learn about their adventures, and what an adventure they are on! Thank you for staying with us, and for the amazing gift of Peter's original artwork! We hope our paths will cross again.
Peter and Teodora recently stayed with us in our home on their epic PNW adventure. Our cottage was not available so they stayed in the master suite, and were lovely guests - friendly, tidy, and considerate. I hope that I can go on that kind of road trip someday as well!
What sweet people! Peter and Teodora were great at communicating in the months leading up to their visit, and they were very kind in expressing their appreciation once they arrived. As an extra-special gesture, Peter left us a lovely piece of art that he had created. We are very pleased to have been able to host them.
We were contacted by Peter and Teodora for a 1 night hospitality stay for their extended trip on the west coast of the USA. We decided to say YES and I am so glad that we did. They were a charming couple and we were able to have them for a dinner and show them around our beaches afterwards for the sunset. We offered them our newly completed studio cottage to be our first guests, before we start renting to traveling medical professionals. Peter had created some original artwork based on photographs that he had seen of the Oregon Coast, and he let us choose one of them, and even put it in a nice frame for us. We are so glad that we said YES to this hospitality stay and will likely do it again in the future if it works for our schedule. We might even try it ourselves and hope to visit them in England some day :-) They left our cottage in perfect condition and were perfect guests!
Peter and Teadora were an amazing couple to meet. So friendly and left our place very clean. Unfortunately, I was extremely busy and didn't get to enjoy their company as much as I would have liked.
We are excited to one day be able to enjoy their home in Palm Springs.
Rebecca and Family
Peter and Teodora were delightful guests. They communicated extremely well with me and arrived when they said they would. Peter and Teodora are a fun and interesting couple; I was pleased that we could spend the day together. They are thoughtful and tidy, as well! I can't wait for their next visit and for my visit to their home this summer.
Peter and Teodora were great guests, respectful of my home and left it like they found it.
Our notes about Peter and Teodora as guests at our cabin will echo those as guests at our home. In other words, these two wonderful people are lovely guests. They went above and beyond in tidying the cabin before their departure. We ask guests to replace bed linens with a fresh set left in the dresser, and to leave the used sheets near the washer for us to launder on our next visit. Well...in a feat of time management I cannot quite fathom, the bed linens were not only washed and dried (in the cabin's small dryer), they were also ironed. In keeping with that attention to detail, the cabin was also quite spotless.
However, that is not the best reason to exchange with this couple. The best reason is getting to know them. We hope to meet up with them again, because our time together at our home was simply too brief. If you have the opportunity to meet them, you will count yourself fortunate. We highly recommend them as guests - and friends.
If you get the opportunity to exchange with Peter and Teodora, take it. Communication with them was excellent, and they left out house cleaner than they found it. They even ironed the sheets!
Peter and Teodora are very patient and communicative. We had planned this exchange for almost a year and the last minute I had COVID. They had to book a hotel instead. I felt deeply sorry and disappointed but they were so gracious and understanding. I hope one day we can do a real exchange.
Peter and Teodora were as lovely as guests as they were as hosts. We were fortunate enough to spend an evening together when they arrived. What an absolute pleasure it was. We hope that we will meet them again on their travels or ours.
Our home was left in pristine condition; we know it was clean when they arrived but suspect it may have been even cleaner when we returned after their visit. We aren't sure how, but it does seem so.
If you have the opportunity to exchange with them, don't hesitate; and if you have the opportunity to meet them you will find you've met two truly delightful people, two truly delightful friends.
Rita very graciously bailed us out when our condo was without water for a few days due to a mains supply pipe being replaced.
Her cottage is ideally located in a quiet area just a couple of blocks from the seafront with lots of restaurants, shops and bars on the main strip in Pacific Beach.
Clean, tidy and well-equipped, it was a delightful place to spend a few days and visit San Diego. We really enjoyed it.
Barbara is as enjoyable to host as she was a hostess on our recent trip to the San Francisco area. Her interest and enthusiasm for our part of England was both flattering and infectious. We love spending time with her and feel we've made a life-long friend who shares our passion for travel and exploring other cultures and ways of viewing the world. If you joined PLU because you are an explorer who wants to meet like-minded explorers, you can do no better than introduce yourself to Barbara and enjoy her home and her attitude.
Barbara was super helpful in putting us up on our epic road trip from Palm Springs California up to the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada and back again. We stayed in her beautiful home both on our way North and again on our return South! She hosted us on the way up, which was great, as she showed some things in Walnut Creek we wouldn't otherwise have known about, and we really enjoyed her company. Barbara is exceptionally well travelled and well informed and sharing experiences with her is a delight. We look forward to having her stay with us in England shortly.
If you're looking for a place to stay in the San Francisco/Sacramento corridor, look no further. Barbara is easy to communicate with and her house is spotless and beautifully furnished/equipped.
Top PLU marks!
Linda was super helpful in putting us up on our epic road trip from Palm Springs California up to the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Canada and back again. Yes! She let us use her cabin in Fort Bragg on our way North and the house in McCloud on the way South as we were struggling to get places for short stays in both those areas (PLUers being a bit thin on the ground). Fortunately, we got to meet her briefly in McCloud and what a wonderful PLU member she is. Hopefully, she will get around to visiting us in England or Palm Springs before too long.
So helpful. Such a nice place. Ashleigh is a top drawer PLU member. Her guest annex is perfect for a couple, spotlessly clean and the neighbourhood could hardly be better. Best of all: they don't keep pets (unusual in Bend, it would seem). Highly recommended.
We didn't get to meet her and her family, but we really hope they make it to one of our residences at some time. There'll always be a welcome waiting.
James and Vicki are so accommodating and easy to communicate with and their place is in a beautiful spot with great access to some of the best that Washington and Oregon have to offer. We really enjoyed our (all too short) stay there. They even organised some lovely weather for us. Perfect.
Such a lovely couple. We had planned to host them, but ended up having to do a makeover of a rental home to get it on the market. They aren’t the first to leave a really special creation as a gift. But wow! I’d like to post a photo of the art piece Peter did of Mount Hood here, but I don’t see a way to do it, so it will be on the group Facebook page.
Warning incoming!
Another glowing report of both Graham and B themselves and their home in Gibsons.
If we had an award scheme for PLU members, these two would be getting my vote. They already made the perfect PLU guests when they visited our place in Palm Springs, now they've topped it off with being the consummate hosts too.
Their home is as close to perfect as you can get. We stayed in their self-contained guest suite, but having seen the main house, that is equally luxurious. Only recently renovated, the property is fitted out in a clean, modern style that is easy to enjoy and maintain. All the appliances, furniture and linens are of high quality and the whole place functions with ease.
But best of all is the location. Close to Gibsons Landing and with a view to die for, just waking up and drawing the blind every morning makes the trip worthwhile!
Ken and Leanne are the master craftsmen of home exchanging. Their home a haven for all who travel there. They've created a beautiful home and imbued it with a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere that makes it truly a "home from home".
They were flexible enough to enable us to stay with them both on the way up to the Sunshine Coast of BC and again on the way back, and even organised a PLU gathering during our stay, so we got to meet PLUers from the Vancouver area and as far South as Seattle. A couple were even visiting from Germany. Leanne is so well organised and a great communicator. You won't be disappointed.
We really enjoyed our stay in Seattle. Partly because we developed a fondness for Seattle itself and partly because we liked exchanging travel stories with Emily and Jules. Their cottage/annex/guest house at the bottom of their garden has recently been refurbished throughout and makes a very clean, cosy and welcoming place to stay within striking distance of central Seattle being close to several bus routes into different parts of town. At $4 a day, a Seniors, all day bus ticket is a bargain and the busses run regularly.
Visiting Seattle? You'll love staying with Emily and Jules.
Meaganne's spacious home is set on a hillside above beautiful Lake Oswego and the family are welcoming and informative. We are travelling by car which made getting into both the lovely town of Lake Oswego and downtown Portland easy. Meaganne gave us lots of ideas, tips and information in response to our evolving plans. We were fortunate to have the use of their spacious guest suite which had what Meaganne herself correctly described as a "fancy pants" bathroom (the lighting alone requiring a degree in computer science which, as luck would have it, I happen to have - joke).
If you're looking for an empathetic PLU member in or around Portland, I'm sure you'll find a stay with Meaganne fits the bill. We look forward to returning the favour when they visit England or our second home in Palm Springs.
Super beach house location. Thank you so much Maia. There was just the two of us, which is a shame, as the house is huge. The beach is perfect for kids (and big kids too). The view of the sunset from the balcony was lovely.
Camy and Tom are such lovely people that we sincerely hope their plans to visit us in England next year come to fruition.
We got to Christen their new annex and it was a perfectly self-contained and sizeable unit - think spacious one-bed condo.
The location is right near downtown Bandon, in a quiet street with friendly neighbours that is a short distance from the all-important beaches and stacks, but also the old town proper.
Camy and Tom are easy to talk to, conscientious hosts that took the time to show us the key features of Bandon. It is people like them that make PLU what it is: the friendliest home exchange website.
Rebecca was so kind and helpful. We had an enjoyable, but all too brief stay at their guest annex, which has everything you would need and was spotlessly clean and tidy.
Great PLUer!
Both my wife and I felt as if we'd known Barbara for years from the very first moments. Shared experiences. Shared ambitions. Shared interests.
We are so looking forward to hosting her in return later in the year.
Her home is tasteful and immaculate with a splendid view across the valley. If you're looking to stay in the area you won't find a better PLUer anywhere.
What an interesting couple! Suzanne and Jean brought a whole new perspective on my own country and indeed, my old country (Canada) as they are from Quebec and I lived in Ontario. We loved their stories of family gathering to harvest and make their own maple syrup (yes, of course, they brought us some!) and their dreams of visiting England (Suzanne's research for the trip tested my own knowledge).
They are so easy going and considerate that they make ideal hosting guests and their stay simply flew by. Hopefully, we will get the chance to return the favour and stop by their place on our travels some time.
I'd like to say that Graham and B are exactly what PLU Members should be like, but I can't.
That's because they go way beyond what we have any right to expect in terms of the care and attention they paid to our property.
As a result of illness, we were stuck at home in England prior to their visit and were unable to prepare our place in Palm Springs for their arrival. There had been a couple of visitors before them with, let's say, less exacting standards. PLUS, the central aircon had broken down and needed a total rebuild (it was the original from 1967!). A very disruptive piece of work to have to do during their stay which made it a more challenging home exchange than we would have liked to offer. But these two rose to the challenge and acted as our de facto property managers on the spot and kept us in the picture throughout. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
So please.........try not to challenge them as much as we did. They deserve an easier time.
Ken and Cheryl are obviously experienced exchangers. They are easy to communicate with, well-organised and thoughtful. They were very helpful with some problems we had with our holiday home in Palm Springs as, sadly, we were unable to be there ourselves. We had to remain in England because my wife was advised against travel. Hopefully, we will get to meet them in Canada someday.
Gerri only stayed a few days to attend a wedding in Palm Springs and did little more than sleep at our place as a result. Hopefully, we'll stop by in Denver some time and get to meet her.
It's good to help out a fellow PLUer in this way and Gerri was very appreciative. I hope other PLU members develop a taste for short stays like this so that we can all travel more and use AirBNB less!
Super friendly, super clean and super tidy. No hesitation in recommending Kirsten, Laura and Mummy Lorraine as guests. Loved meeting them and loved having them. People like us? Definitely.
Hopefully they will be able to spend a little more time in our part of England on their next trip and we can be home to spend more time with them too.
Matt is a model PLU'er.
We won't be back to our winter home until.......well......next winter. So Matt washed all the linen, put away the outdoor furniture and prepared the place for hibernation (empty/turn off the ice maker; that kind of thing).
Communication was always timely and clear. Matt made the whole exchange easy to arrange and carry out.
I recommend him (and his place in Tucson) to other PLU members.
He is one of us.
Matthew's home is a very recent renovation and everything is fresh and clean. The location is perfect. Right downtown and on the streetcar route (free, at least at the time of writing), yet quiet and secluded. A perfect combination.
Matthew made arranging the exchange easy and should be a popular stop on any journey across Southern Arizona. Really enjoyed our stay in Tucson.
Wow! And wow!
Never stayed in a cabin before. Expected it to be......well.....a bit basic. It was anything but! Barbara and Glenn really know how to make a home comfortable, classy and yet totally functional as well.
The town of Wimberley has a lovely laid back vibe, some great shops and plenty of eating places too. Yet Austin and San Antonio are close enough if you feel like a break from tranquility.
Looking for an exchange in the area? Look no further.
Carol is a very generous and flexible hostess. We were enjoying a week's stay at her well-appointed home in Fort Worth as part of a lengthy road trip when an ice storm struck and made travelling dangerous. Carol immediately offered for us to stay on longer. If we had to get trapped by the weather somewhere, this would be a good choice!
I'm just sorry you had to be in Fort Worth during this unusual time. I hope you got to see at least a few attractions in my hometown before the freeze set in!
Unfortunately this exchange never happened as our hostess tested positive for Covid a few days before we were due to arrive. Being in a high risk group (although fully vaccinated) we opted to stay in a New Orleans hotel instead.
Although sorry not to have met the generous family that offered to host us with nothing definitely arranged in return, we enjoyed New Orleans despite the setback and wish them a speedy recovery.
What a great couple to exchange with! And what a lovely home. I sincerely hope to spend more than the single evening we had with Barbara and Glenn on some future occasion. It seemed like we could have talked for hours and hours. I hope we will.
Barbara's home felt like a home-from-home. Tasteful and spotless. Everything you fondly imagine an exchange home to be. Loved it.
We had great fun with Ken and Leanne during their hospitality stay with us to attend a wedding nearby. An easy-going couple with a vast back catalog of home exchanges resulting in lasting friendships. It's easy to understand why. I'm sure anyone would laugh and laugh with them too.
Hopefully we can arrange for them to stay at our Palm Springs condo next month and we're looking forward to visiting them in Vancouver next year sometime.
You really wouldn't know that Barbara and Glenn had ever stayed at our house if it weren't for the bottles of wine that appeared, as if by magic, on the kitchen counter.
They clearly know how to make this home exchange idea work perfectly.
