Our cottage is our favourite place just to be.
Whilst it is a quaint traditional Irish cottage with fabulous views over the hills of Donegal and a lake, it is equipped with all the convenience of modern day living., plus there’s a hot tub to chill out in at the end of a day exploring the Wild Atlantic Way.!
There’s a wood burning stove to cosy up in front of too.. it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind.
We are located on a quiet country road just 5 minutes from a stunning quiet beach with great sunsets! The towns of Glenties, Ardara, Dungloe and the fabulous Portnoo are all within 10/20 mins drive.
We are happy for responsible dog owners to bring their pooch along too!
The Space
The cottage is over one floor though the kitchen and bathroom are on a slightly higher level up a couple of steps. There’s oil fired central heating and a wood burning stove to cosy up of an evening. We have a king size bed in the main bedroom and 2 bunk beds in the small second bedroom. There’s a bath and shower (above bath) and the kitchen has everything you will need for a comfortable stay.
We have patio doors leading to an outdoor dining area and there’s a hot tub on a raised decking area with a lake and Mountain View.
Guest Access
Unfortunately the age and lay out of the house does not lend itself to wheelchair users and we are not set up for curious toddlers from a risk assessment point of view!
Notes
A car is essential. We are located on a rural road. The local village is just a few minutes drive away where there is gastro pub, convenience store, petrol station, church and Post Office. There is also a traditional Irish pub locally that has music every Friday night.
We are well located to explore the Wild Atlantic Way and the towns of Dungloe, Ardara, Glenties and Portnoo are all under 20 mins drive.
Mount Errigal, Glenveagh National Park, Glencolumcille and Slieve Liag and many other points of interest are all great days out for exploring the area.

Our local beach is lesser known and usually very quiet. Dooey strand is 3 km long and beautiful. There’s a local sauna for hire overlooking the bay which you can book ahead then go for an exhilarating dip in the sea.
The neighbours are friendly and very obliging.

We spent 3 wonderful days at Sinead’s cottage. The cottage was very cosy and comfortable and is an ideal spot for exploring parts of Donegal. The most amazing beaches are a close drive away. Sinead made sure we had everything we needed and was extremely responsive to messages. The hot tub was a real treat!
Sinead’s second home is so pretty, with a great historical feel too. It has everything you would want or need for a great stay. The location is beautiful and the scenery is so special. We found plenty of fun things to do while there. Thanks Sinead and hope you enjoy using the Pluto.
This cottage is adorable. Sinead allowed us to stay even though we were too many people for the cottage, she made sure we understood that it was small and we made the decision to stay anyways. I’m so glad we did, we all loved it. One kid declared “this is my favourite place yet!” The weather was incredible, which always helps. They have a lovely patio that we used for eating and made it feel roomier. There is also a hot tub that was thoroughly enjoyed. The location, while remote, is absolutely breathtaking. Many towns near by and points of interest to explore. Portnoo beach and caves I can’t remember the name of 😬 were highlights for us.
We can’t wait to welcome Sinead to Canada in the summer!
Sinead and Aiden were great to host. Communication was especially easy since we already felt like we knew them. The house was left in great condition. I would highly recommend an exchange with them and hope that our paths cross someday!
As our very first PLU guests, we were delighted to host Sinead and her family. Communication was always good and all fears were allayed for future possible PLU happenings!
Feedback for Giovanni·Non-Reciprocal exchange·6 nights
Giovanni’s studio was clean and quiet which made for a good nights sleep. It was in a great location for proximity to the town of San Foca and beaches. With a lovely restaurant and bar just across the street We made use of 2 deck
Chairs left outside which was handy for comfort on rockier beaches away from the crowds
This is a no frills, basic, self catering accommodation. There are no extras provided so come prepared and bring your own beach towels. You may want to clarify that the studio
You get is the one in the pictures as ours was not as advertised.
Feedback for Lisa·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
Lisa was just lovely. She was easy to deal with and was very responsive to all messages. She treated the cottage with respect and I would be happy to recommend to others and welcome her back.
Feedback for Caroline·Non-Reciprocal exchange·3 nights
Caroline exchanged a Pluto for 3 days in the cottage with her children. Communication was consistent throughout the process. She looked after the place with respect and the house was left in great condition.
Feedback for Kaitlin·Non-Simultaneous exchange·4 nights
Kaitlin’s family holiday home was clean, well equipped and ideally located within minutes of Canmore centre and backing on to a lovely river walk. The outdoor space benefits from all day Sunshine perfect for a bbq in the evenings.
We loved the turn table and vintage LPs which brought back some great memories.
The washing machine was very welcome for catching up on laundry after 12 days of travel however we didnt find an iron.
The heat upstairs was a challenge in the evenings for our Irish blood but that was beyond anyone’s control and a fan and mobile AC unit was available..
communication with Kaitlin was always a pleasure with her friendly enthusiasm was very welcome. Overall it was a great base to explore Canmore Banff and beyond. Totally recommend!!
Feedback for Leanne·Non-Reciprocal exchange·5 nights
We were absolutely blown away by this apartment. We felt so privileged and blessed to have had the opportunity to stay in such a stunning space in a prime location.
Leanne’s home is precisely that. It has lots of personal treasured items throughout which need to be equally admired and respected. This was a globe well spent!!! Thank you both for trusting us to look after and stay in such an amazing home.
Feedback for Kaitlin·Non-Simultaneous exchange·5 nights
Kaitlin was a wonderful guest. Communication throughout the process was great. She checked if there was anything she was unsure of and looked after Lake View Cottage as she would her own. She was friendly, enthusiastic and a pleasure to host. I really admired her willingness to get on with the limited space of a one hundred year old cottage with a family of 5!
Totally recommend as an exchange family!! ❤️
