General overview

House is in an upscale neighborhood. Richmond is in a very historic colonial American area. Many festivals, vineyards, theater, breweries, and museums nearby. Hiking and biking trails run throughout the city. 2 amusement parks nearby and a children’s museum. Washington DC is 1 hr by train. By car the Atlantic Ocean and Shenandoah mountains are 1.5 hrs away. We are nearby the Colonial Williamsburg historical town also. I also recommend looking at a Facebook group called “ Exploring Virginia “ to see all the great places to visit beyond our town.

The space

On the main floor One bedroom has 2 double beds and the other bedroom has 1 queen bed. The 2nd floor has a bedroom with its own living room, TV and full bathroom and can be set up with portable beds. There are 2 couches on the 2nd floor living room. Our house is a newer home in a quiet neighborhood. Our home has excellent WiFi and for remote workers. This is our primary home however we will be traveling extensively so it will be available much of the time. We also love to host!

We had an amazing visit with Tracey. She has a beautiful home and hosted us while we were in Richmond. We loved getting to know Tracy and enjoyed staying in her beautiful home. The home is in Midlothian, south of the city center. Richmond is a great city to visit, with a history dating back to the 1600s and tons of fun things to do.

Tracy’s home is fantastic! Beautifully decorated and super comfortable. The neighborhood was lovely and the neighbors were so nice. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Perfect location, wonderful host. Totally remodeled apartment. Wilford kept in contact with us to make sure we had everything we needed. He also took the time to meet us and greet when we arrived. Highly recommended!

Laura was very well prepared for our visit. Apartment was well organized and very clean. Loved having washer and balcony to dry. Laura was very responsive to any questions. We enjoyed being able to meet up with her before we left. The location is ideal for exploring the central city. The area is a bit gritty but felt safe with a 24 hr doorman. Lots of restaurants, transportation and shops within a couple of blocks.

Monika had every detail taken care of for a perfect exchange. Very clean modern secure apartment in a lovely suburb of Paris. It took @ 45 minutes to reach the tourist area however public transportation was easy to use. After a long day of site seeing we were glad to get back to the quiet neighborhood. I would highly recommend staying at Monika’s place.

Wonderful lady and daughter ready to share their Home with us during this host visit. Blocks from a couple of great restaurants (Indian & Italian). Easy walk from train station. We rented a car to see the sights of Normandy. Very easy drives with wide roads and light traffic. Great central location for many options from palaces, Abbey, beaches and beautiful countryside. Charming stone house with guest attic & 2 baths.

We had a delightful time with their family. They were very accommodating as they hosted us in their busy life. The 3 little boys were the highlight of our stay. They made sure we had good instructions navigating our trip to Paris. My husband was especially excited to have a chance to play chess with the family & their friends. The location was perfect for exploring the city center.

This is our second exchange with Krissi. She offers a wonderful accommodations similar to a luxury apartment. Comfortable beds, new kitchen, and nearby shopping & restaurants. Wonderful couple who allowed us to enjoy their mountain cabin very near the center of Bryson City, NC. The small town is a stop for those who want relief from the hot summers. We enjoyed the great service & meal at the local Chinese restaurant also.

Great family who openly hosted my self and husband. They have a lower level bedroom, bath and den which makes your stay comfortable. We spent the days in Nashville which is an easy 35 minute drive. Their 2 family dogs loves the attention they received also.

Krissi and her daughter left the house in excellent condition. They put all the dirty laundry on the wash machine, cleaned the sinks, and locked up. I would definitely recommend them for a house swap. Very good respectful family!

The nicely remodeled home was beautiful. Fully equipped with bedding, towels, kitchenware, microwave and two TV’s. Lots of paved private parking in the front and back. Super close to a swimming beach just a block away. Close to a grocery and couple of restaurants. Our favorite was the happy hour specials at their recommended “Hot Tuna” restaurant/bar. Both Krissi and her husband responded quickly to any requests. Chris brought us over everything we needed for a afternoon on the beach (chairs, umbrellas, drink stands and ice cooler).

Lovely remodeled home right across the street from a swimming beach. Easy access by car or walk to groceries and restaurants. Plenty of parking and everything you might need for the beach. With a quick text they brought me over beach chairs, umbrella, cup holder stands and even a cooler. The “Hot Tuna” bat/restaurant has super yummy happy hours!!! Super friendly family. I would highly recommend this 2 story home for a beach vacation!

We loved staying that this PLU. Fabulous apartment in secure building. Super convenient to team, shopping, and restaurants. Düsseldorf had so much to offer during our 2 week stay. We also took trains to see a wonderful palace in Bruhl, Drachenburge Castle in Bonn, and the huge Cathedral in Cologne Germany. The shopping districts in Düsseldorf are amazing. Best of all was the dinner we shared with Frank and Pam. A wonderful fun couple!

What a wonderful home Paul and Tine have! Extremely clean, modern, and super comfortable bed. At the last minute they were able to accommodate our friend who came to stay with us for a week. The grocery and bus stop were 4 blocks away. City historic center was a 15 bus ride which dropped us off at all the museums, churches, and restaurants. We were able to meet our PLU couple for a few hours and immediately felt like friends. We are hoping to see them in Virginia, USA in the near future.

Krzysztof and Magda hosted us during our stay with them and they were wonderful hosts. The accommodations they provided were newly decorated with a private bathroom. The location of their house was not in the city center but there were bus lines that allowed transport to city center (and to train lines) about .4 miles away from the house. I enjoyed their conversation and they were very accommodating to us during our stay. Even though they were a busy family they spent time with us and even cooked us a BBQ dinner!! Krzysztof also helped us with the planning of some of our day trips. He also made sure we had taxi service when we needed it...

PLU # 11912 exchange with Gerdy at Nieuwegein, Netherland (Utrecht) was a wonderful experience for 3 weeks. It’s a great central location to visit Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Hauge and of course Utrecht sites. We kept busy every day with museums, gardens and taking in the culture. Gerdy came back the night before we left so we could spend an evening getting to know each other (highlight and bonus)! Enjoyed taking care of Lilly (cat).
