Neighbourhood

About a three-mile long old-school beach neighborhood with nine public ocean accesses. Four world class resorts are fairly close. Mauna Kea and Westin Mauna Kea (previously Hapuna Prince) to the north. Fairmont Orchid, and Mauna Lani Auberge to the south. Good walking, and a very small general store/dive shop about 1/4 mile away. Puako is a great bike, swim, walk neighborhood.

Nearest airport

KOA (Kailua-Kona) about 35 minutes away. Or ITO (Hilo) about 1 3/4 - 2 hours away.

Getting Around

You'll want your own car, unless you load up on groceries and stay around here -- which is possible. It's just that most people like to explore a bit. We do have a wonderful volcano and national park after all. That's about 2 1/2 hours drive from us. You can ride bikes, or walk, to many snorkel spots, beaches or 2 resorts. You can ride to the other 2 resorts, it's just that it's hillier (up and down) to get to the ones to the north of us. Also, to the south, you can ride to a decent grocery store, and a few good restaurants (the shops at Mauna Lani).
