General overview

Our home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath rancher on 1.3 acres in semi rural Central Vancouver Island. We are a 15 minute drive to shops, restaurants, grocery stores, a number of local beaches, great hiking, 7 golf courses, 5 minutes to the world famous Goats On the Roof Old Country Market, an hour to Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, an all season mountain destination and a two hour drive to the world famous Pacific Rim National Park with the towns of Tofino and Ucluelet bookending the park. We are a 2 hour drive to the famous Butchard Gardens in Victoria. Use our home as a central base while you explore everything the Island has to offer.

The space

Our home is all one level with a king bed and ensuite in the master bedroom, a queen in 2nd room and a single in 3rd room. We also have a pull out couch in the den. We have a large walk out deck off the kitchen with a BBQ grill, propane fire pit and plenty of seating as well as a hot tub. Our home, while compact is quite roomy and comfortable. Note: we are slowly updating (some remodeling) our home and it tends to be a slow process but everything is still very functional and livable :)

Guest access

Our home is a rancher style home so easy access for those with some limited mobility; with 2 steps to enter at each door. The living room is a step down.

Notes

We have 2 pairs of snow shoes, 2 inflatable paddle boads and 2 mountain bikes available for you to use while here. Do so at your own risk.

Getting to my home

Guests can fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and take BC Ferries to Vancouver Island. We also have both Comox (YQQ) and Nanaimo (YCD) Airports 1 hour from us, or the Victoria International Airport (YYJ) 2.5 hrs south of us. Public transportation is limited on the Island so a car is needed. There are numerous car rentals at the airports, or in Nanaimo if coming via BC Ferries. We can also look at including our vehicle if plans work for all.

Nearest airport

We are 1 hour from both Comox Airport and Nanaimo Airport, 2.5 hours from Victoria Airport. We are 45 minutes from Departure Bay and Duke Point Ferry Terminals.

Getting around

There is no public transport in our area so a car is needed. Can possibly lend out our small 4 door car depending on family size and luggage.

Dawn and Brian

My husband and myself work for a local school district. Brian is a Commercial Transport Mechanic and fixes the school buses, and I oversee the day to day running of the school busses and the Transportation team. Though we can travel anytime through out the year, we tend to use school holidays for most get aways. We do like to get away to a hot spot at least once in the winter. We are both looking forward to starting this wonderful journey. We both enjoy hiking and nature, historical sites, and quieter locations. Summer time often finds us packing up our small boat with camping gear and finding a nice spot on the lake to spend a weekend. Or heading out on the Ocean to do some salmon fishing.
