The apartment is located directly on Sarlat's main square where one of the finest food markets in the region takes place on Wednesdays and Saturdays all year. The city hosts several cultural events and festivals throughout the year, many of which centre around the main square so you can watch all the activity from the windows of the apartment. Sarlat itself is breathtakingly beautiful and, being famous for its gastronomy, has an abundance of fabulous restaurants within strolling distance from the apartment, however !! yet even more treasures await you in just 20-30 minutes with several of France's most beautiful villages (Domme, Beynac, La Roque Gageac, Castelnaud-la-Chapelle amd St Leon -sur-Vezere) just 20 minutes away. The immediate area is famous for its prehistory with its plethora of cave dwellings and cave art along the Vezere Valley and the world famous Lascaux is less than 30 minutes away with many more less famous examples of prehistory even closer. You can go canoeing down the Dordogne (20 mins away) or spend a day or two cycling some gentle scenic routes. You will never be lacking for somewhere to go or something to see!

The medieval city itself is pedestrianised with free public parking just 2-3 minutes walk from the apartment. Sarlat train station is 1km from the apartment (20 minute walk) with trains to Bergerac and Bordeaux. The nearest airports are Brive-la-Gaillarde (40 mins), Bergerac (1hr 20), Limoges (1hr 40) and Bordeaux (2hr20). There is a local bus service about 5 minutes walk from the apartment which can take you to some attractions further afield. Whilst it is perfectly possible to park up and spend a few days just in Sarlat, to get the most out of this wonderful region a car would certainly be beneficial.
