A spacious strawbale home, set back from the road, and surrounded by an enclosed patio and vegetable and flower gardens, then surrounded by trees on all sides. The home is set on 5 acres, mostly native bush, but with a small paddock, and several vegetable and flower beds next to the road.
We have many native birds, especially Tuis and bellbirds and a beehive that is looked after by a professional apiarist. Although we have dogs and donkeys, we would take them all away for any exchange, so there is no question of any animal care.
The Space
We have two bedrooms, each with en-suite, one upstairs and one on the ground floor. The remaining living space is open plan, with dining room and kitchen (induction hob and electric ovens) and -separated by a suspended log fire - a living room. There ar several spots around the home to enjoy a glass of wine and a book, both inside and out in the garden.
Solar powered, including smart charging for EV.
Guest Access
One main floor, with smaller bedroom area upstairs to maximise the view of the treetops and one bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Easily accessible..
Notes
As this is our home (never rented out or used for AirBnB etc,) it is fully equipped. We built the hime 11 years ago.
As we will be moving our donkeys during any exchange, we ask that a minimum 3 nights exchange is requested. Very happy to consider longer exchanges too, ideally non-simultaneous, and globes also welcome.

Neighbourhood
Although we are a small city, there is plenty to explore locally, including the wildlife of the peninsula (yellow eyed penguins, albatross colony) and our local beach (sea lions and a sea leopard at times with whales visible during migration), history and outstanding gardens (Larnach Castle, Olveston House, Dunedin Botanic Garden), Otago university, and a busy arts scene, including our literature festival, film festival, arts and fringe festivals. Good good, an active music scene and plenty of scenic cycling routes to explore.

Getting to my home
We are located in a rural area, but still only a few minutes from Mosgiel, where all daily needs are available (including teo supermarkets, grangers, several pharmacies, medical and dental services etc ) and 15 minutes drive from Dunedin city. All the best of a rural location with easy access to city life.
Nearest airport
Dunedin airport (DUD) 17 kms from home (on the same side of the city).
Getting Around
Although there is a bus service from the end of our road, it is a somewhat hilly walk of 1.25 kms to the stop, so a car is really needed.
EV car exchange may be available.

Queenstown is popular and busy! There’s so much for active people to do and the setting is stunning.
Pim’s home is located a short way out in a quiet area, yet still close to the action. Her home is comfortable and has everything one would need to settle in.
We were fortunate to meet Pim and Stuart in Dunedin, and they are gracious and delightful.
Pim was a fantastic host and very welcoming! The house provides easy access to the center of Queenstown and is very comfortable. We had a wonderful time with our kids and spent a lot of time exploring the area. It was so nice to return each evening to Pim's place for a good night's sleep and meal preparation. We are so happy we stayed there and are forever grateful to Pim for opening her home to us. Thank you!
Loved Pims house and the view from her lounge was like a painting. The scenery was stunning. The home was very welcoming and It was lovely to light the log burner when we got back from a days outing. Pim was readibly available if we needed to ask anything and we had a great few days there.
Pim and Stuart stayed at our apartment for a week. We were away but when we came home last night, the place was just as we left it. They were perfect guests.
Pim's group was a pleasure to host. They were very pleasant when we met them and we are so glad they had an enjoyable trip. They took great care of our space and were excellent with communication. I'd strongly recommend them to other hosts.
Pim left our home very neat and clean.
You were my first guests and how lucky i was to start the plu experience with you, thanks for your kindness and WE stay in touch for sure!!!!
Pim stayed a few days in our home. She kept in touch regularly during that time and advised us when she left at the end of her stay. The house was left in perfect condition and we would have no hesitation in having Pim stay again.
Really lovely exxhange in a comfortable and convenient apartment in a wonderful location. We could walk to the train service and had all the necessary shops nearby (as well as some very delectable Italian ones!). The home was quiet and had everythingbwe needed. Excellent friendly communciation with owners. What an absolute gem! Thank you so much, Jane and Michael.
Kind and very responsive home owners, who answered every question and solved every problem very quickly and efficiently. The apartment has a great shower, and is well located, near two subway lines (particularly good for lower Manhattan, but other areas are accessible too). Several good supermarkets within easy walking distance. Thank you very much Molly and family - we had a great time exploring NYC thanks to your sweet apartment.
The exchange with Victor and Karen was easy to set up and communication fast and efficient. Luckily they were able to pick up the key from us and we enjoyed the men's mutual interest in classic British cars.
We remained in touch during the exchange and are grateful to them for leaving our home perfectly tidy, with the linen washed and changed as we requested. A friendly, knowledgeable and careful couple - only sorry we cannot visit them in Hawaii in return as it sounds amazing! Nga mihi!
Charming family with excellent and quick communication. Excellent guests - welcome any time.
Thanks so much, Pim, for hosting us! We had such a wonderful time and are so thankful!
Delightful week at this comfortable, spotless and thoughtfully decorated apartment, which is situated very conveniently for the excellent bus transport system in Noumea. Fanny is a kind and sympathetic host, always responsive and helpful and a charming person - we loved our time in this magical place and look forward to staying in touch. Thank you, Fanny!
We were delighted to return Kathie’s kind hospitality that we enjoyed last year. Excellent communication from ideal guests. Welcome any time!
A spacious and comfortable home, in a peaceful spot, convenient for central Taupo. Plenty of local information and lots of things to do in and around the town - we could easily have stayed longer! Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Pim
We are a retired active couple: Stuart is an engineer and Pim is a doctor. We have lived and worked in the UK and Australia as well as NZ, but always enjoy coming to our Queenstown home to relax and savour our wonderful country. We love travel and have had some wonderful trips of all kinds in the past - and are looking forward to more in future. We both used to be glider pilots (Stuart had a power licence too), and he still collects old cars and loves tearing around on his motorbike at weekends. We are line dancers. We are also very interested in birdwatching, tramping, cycling and exploring old cities.
With >100 exchanges to date (we have been swapping since 1987) we are always interested in New Zealand and unusual destinations! We have had many wonderful trips to Australia and are not planning any more for the moment. Currently only looking for Lot et Garonne, Bologna, Sirolo, Dolomites and Japan.
