People Like Us Local Guide
I have lived in Ajijic 8 years and would be happy to meet for coffee or a meal to share my local experience
Lisa's home in Ajijic is a lovely oasis in the middle of the beautiful village of Ajijic. It is quite large and fully equipped with everything you may need. Communication was very easy and comfortable and her "assistant" Javier was so incredibly helpful and kind. There are so many amazing and affordable dining options, it is hard to choose not to go out! However, her kitchen is well set up for making a lovely meal. Her top floor mirador has lovely views of Lake Chapala as well.
We had a fabulous exchange at Lisa's house in Aijijic! The house is super comfortable with lots of indoor and outdoor seating areas. The place is super clean and well thought out. There was nothing that we needed that Lisa didn't have. Lisa even set up the coffee maker so we only had to push start when we arrived at 6 am!!
The house is really really well located. We did not have a car and could walk to everything in the town. There are many good restaurants within a 1-5 min walk. There are grocery stores, liquor stores, pharmacies and cute places to shop really close by. Lisa has a great house book with lots of recommendations.
We took at day trip to Tlaquepaque which was really fun. We got there by taxi and back by Uber. It was easy.
We highly recommend a stay at Lisa's house. She is a great communicator and you will have a wonderful stay!
What a privilege it was to stay at Lisa's casa! It was pure luxury and a lovely way to explore a new part of Mexico. The town is delightful, we felt so safe and people were so lovely to our baby! The photos really don't do Lisa's place justice, it is absolutely magical and we were only pulled away from her rooftop to eat out... We really didn't want to leave! It was nice to have her handyman check up on us and Lisa was always available to answer any questions we had. The only call out I would have is that the streets of Ajijic are in very bad shape (this is explained in the house description), it would be a struggle to get around with a stroller or wheelchair etc.. we had to abandon our stroller and just carry the baby around, although it didn't change how much fun we had! Thank you Lisa for such an amazing family vacation Lisa, we won't forget it!! Xx
Lisa in Amazing host, and her home is equally as amazing! Without exaggeration, Lisa’s home is the most beautiful home I have ever stayed in. The location is so perfect, easy walk to everything, and the views from the rooftop terrace are nothing short of incredible, with the lake on one side in the mountains on the other. Beautiful view of the church, even from the master bedroom window. Pool! Fully equipped kitchen. Sparkly Clean. I have done a lot of home exchanges over the years, and this was by far my favorite one.
Lisa and her friend Laura were a pleasure to host. Lisa is super nice and friendly and communication with her has always been prompt and quick making organizing the exchange very easy.
They took perfect care of our flat and gave us feedback of many bars and places she tried in Sevilla, which I always love to hear.
While we weren’t able to meet in person while she was in Sevilla, we look forward to exchanging experiences, opinions and tips over a cocktail in Ajijic when our time to travel to Lisa’s arrives.
Lisa was an amazing guest! She had some questions regarding how a few things operated, which was great feedback for us as to leaving more detailed instructions for the future! Lisa left our home spotless!!! She would be welcome at our home anytime!!
Lisa had to cancel because of a family emergency. She was very communicative and we wish her the best.
My exchange with Marimar for their darling flat in Seville could not have been better ❤️.
She was communicative and prompt every step of the way (even when my dates kept fluctuating 😩).
My trifecta of travel is location, location, food - and this flat did not disappoint. Perfectly located in the heart of the centro on a quiet side street with a lovely courtyard. Marimar was helpful with guide books and reference material as well as dining suggestions (we found ourselves 3 nights of our stay at La Bartola just half a block away) after trying several high-end, well rated restaurants the neighborhood tapas bar was the BEST .
The flat itself in decorated nicely with a nice large modern shower/bath and everything you might need for an extended stay.
I would highly recommend and hope to back one day.
Tom and Mia have an amazing home and I couldn't have asked for better exchange partners.
Their beautiful home was well equipped including a lovely Jacuzzi tub. A super quiet neighborhood just a block from a large park.
We also swapped cars on our exchange and everything Bend was at my fingertips
Tom and Mia were wonderful guests.
The communication before, during and after the exchange was always timely.
I had a pretty major plumbing snafu while they were in my home and they were very gracias about the inconvenience.
They left the house spotless (even after I told her that the housekeeper was coming).
I would not hesitate to recommend them as perfect guests
Unfortunately we had a family emergency and were unable to fulfill this exchange.
Kim was kind and understanding when I had to notify her just days before our scheduled arrival.
She was amazingly helpful throughout the entire process of the exchange, helping with restaurant suggestions and fun things to do for what was to be my sisters birthday celebration - she even offered her car.
Hopefully we will make it to Berkeley (and Kims lovely home) at another time.
Lesley and Phil’s 18th century maison, conveniently located just across a walkable bridge in the lovely Lot Department town of Cahors, was a spacious and comfortable home base while touring the Lot and the Dordogne areas of SW France. While the house itself is under renovation, the 1st floor located up one flight of curving, lovely stairs has been fully completed and allows for 2 totally private bedrooms and bathrooms, a large salon and dining room and a gourmet cook’s kitchen. There is a lot of light and a terrace to enjoy. As in many French homes, there is not an electrical clothes dryer, but a handy rack to use. Be advised that there is not a television on this floor, but upstairs in the unrenovated area. We were so busy enjoying the many restaurants and plentiful shops that we never missed television! A real plus is the opportunity to park a rental car inside the gated grounds. Across the street is a delicious bakery and also a butcher with take-away foods. Numerous restaurants are within a 10-15 minute easy and scenic walk. Lesley was available to answer all our questions about the house even though she was in Australia and Phil provided a detailed description of all of the house systems. We are so very appreciative of their generosity in making this special home available to us for a memorable birthday trip in a most spectacular part of France!
Laure was a wonderful guest - unfortunately Laure and her husband had to leave a bit early for a family emergency but communication was excellent and they left everything in order. 🥰🙏
Kim was a wonderful guest!
We had plenty of clear communication and she left my house spotless - Thats as good as you can ask for.
Becky and her family were charming guests. Lots of clear conversation. Left the house neat and tidy. Couldn't ask for better. I hope yo meet them in person on heir next visit.
Sarah was my "first" and I couldn't have asked for anyone better. She has a "master" rating in exchanges and was SO helpful in coaching me on what to put in a "guest handbook". She was charming and easy to work with and our 2 pups became the best of friends
thanks Lisa, can't wait to see you again and get our pups together!! See you at my place in PV for happy hour later this month!!
