Neighbourhood

The neighborhood is well maintained and a highly desirable area to live. This end of the beach is not as crowded with tourists as much as the boardwalk area of Virginia Beach is. There is a secondary road called "the feeder road" that runs parallel to the main road that people walk their dogs, ride their bikes or jog on. It is well lit and considered safe during the day and night. Just a few blocks down the street there is a beautiful garden area and labyrinth on the grounds of the Edgar Casey A.R.E. They have a nice spa facility and a good lunch restaurant called Graze. They also offer yoga and dance classes, and other educational classes. People are generally friendly and look out for one another. It is a wonderful beach community.

Nearest airport

Norfolk International Airport is a 30 minute drive from our home. Although we have a bus system it is not well developed like in some cities or other countries so travel by car is most desirable.

Getting around

Riding a bike or driving is probably the best way to get around unless you like to jog longer distances. There is major grocery store Harris Teeter 3 miles from our house. Our home is just 5 blocks from the entrance to First Landing State Park which has lovely shaded walking trails, Bald Eagles, various birds, Spanish Moss and many wonderful things to discover. Cape Henry Lighthouse is also within walking/biking distance. We are two miles from the start of the Virginia Beach boardwalk that runs from 40th street down to 2nd Street. During the warmer months there is outdoor free live music and entertainment and all kinds of dining options, shops, night life, attractions and breweries (one of which we own) in the area. We are also just four miles to the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), 7 miles to a 36 court outdoor Pickleball center, 6 miles to a wonderful aquarium and many other attractions are just a bike ride or short drive away.
