General overview
My partner and me bought this apartment in 2021. Since then we have been renovating it step by step to make it our own. What I love about the apartment is the beautiful interior (which is still a work in progress) as well as its quiet location (residential neighbourhood with no tourists). Within 5 min walk, you reach Nelson Mandelapark which is perfect for picnics or walks. Further, there is a large shopping area within a 10 min walk (Arena Poort) and within 25 min walk (or 10 min bike ride) you can reach the Johan Cruijf arena (the biggest football stadium of the Netherlands). The city centre of Amsterdam is reachable by metro, (intercity) train or bike within around 30-40 min (it's faster if you combine bike and train). Additionally, there's a fast, direct train connection to Utrecht from Bijlmer Arena station (16 min).
The space
Tha apartment is 82 square meters large and is located on the second floor of a low-rise block building. The largest room is the living room which includes a spacious, new kitchen, sitting and eating area. The kitchen's highlight is the cooker (i.e. Quooker) which gives you instant boiling water. The microwave and oven are combined and the washing machine is hidden in the pantry. From the living room you can reach the balcony. We don't have a TV. We plan to remove/add some furniture in the coming months so the space will slightly change.
The corridor is almost square-shaped and it leads to 3 bedrooms (2 small and 1 medium-sized). The 2 small bedrooms have 2 small double beds in each currently. The medium-sized bedroom is currently used as an office. Note that there is a spare single mattress which can also be put anywhere.
There is one bathroom (with a shower) and one toilet. The bathroom and toilet are separated and will be renovated later in 2024.
Guest access
The apartment is located on the second floor (counting the ground floor as floor zero). There is unfortunately no lift, so you have to be able to climb 2 floors of stairs to reach the front door of our apartment.

Neighbourhood
The neighbourhood is very quiet and residential. The only vehicles that you see come to our street are a few small delivery trucks and the cars of the residents. Free parking is available all around our block. Of course cycling is more common here so you also see some cyclists every now and then and you can cycle everywhere yourself. Tourisits typically do not visit this neighbourhood. The centre of the neighbourhood (10 min walk) is Arena Poort which is a large shopping area with places to drink and eat.
Getting to my home
You can fly to Schiphol aiport. From the airport you take an (intercity) train which reaches Bijmer Areana station in approx. 10 min. You get off at Bijlmer Arena station. From the station you can either take a bus (15 min), bike (10 min) or walk (25 min) to our apartment.

Schiphol airport is the nearest airport. From Schiphol airport you can reach Bijlmer Arena station (closest train station) in 10 min by train.
Getting around
You can walk or bike to the nearest shops. To go further, you can use train, metro or car (if you have one). If you are heading to central Amsterdam, it's recommended to use bike or public transport. Do not drive into central Amsterdam as the parking there is very expensive and it's full of people/tourists. Driving/parking is better anywhere else in the Netherlands.
