Neighbourhood

Our home is located in a typical Quebec village. Without being far from Montreal (since we work and study there every day), we are still in a country village, surrounded by fields and on the edge of Lake Saint-Louis. You will have easy access to numerous nature, cultural and fun activities for adults, young adults, adolescents and children. You can visit the metropolis (Montreal) and discover its cultural, nightlife, historical and even commercial life. The only French-speaking metropolis in North America, Montreal charms with its plural and distinct personality, its flavor both European and American while being resolutely Quebecois. Within walking distance, you will find the Bernard Séguin-Poirier art gallery and workshop, the Deux grains au moulin café-bakery, the butcher-convenience store, the ice cream shop, restaurants, a bar-terrace at the edge water, a pharmacy, the Les Cèdres river shuttle (tour with animation on the history of the region and the village, but also transport of cyclists from one shore of the lake to the other), rental of kayaks, the possibility of fishing on Lake Saint-Louis, the site of the “Vaporistes de Montréal” with their miniature functional steam or electric trains (which can transport several people - the children love it! -), a magnificent cycle path which runs along the Soulanges canal and which communicates with several others (like that of the Beauharnois canal), the Le Bourd des Cèdres vineyard, children's park, etc. 15 minutes by car: Les Forestiers -de-Saint-Lazare nature park (very beautiful cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails (they rent), outdoor skating, tubing and adventure sports during the summer. Also, several centers equestrian, orchards and sugar shacks are nearby. You can, throughout summer and fall, pick various things (strawberries, raspberries, apples, pumpkins, etc.) and buy fresh local produce directly from the local producer. 25 minutes by car: Mont Rigaud (family mountain for downhill skiing or walking in the forest in the fall). The Saint-Sauveur region (larger mountains) is 1 hour 15 minutes away and Mont-Tremblant is 1 hour 45 minutes away. 15 minutes by car: Vaudreuil-Dorion (train station to Montreal, bus station to Montreal and large center with large stores, large supermarkets and many restaurants, medical clinics, cinema, etc.). There is also a circus festival and the “Les Seigneuriales” event in Vaudreuil which recreate the era of New France. 35 minutes by car: Interpretation Center of the Droulers-Tsiionhiakwatha archaeological site (life-size reconstruction of a 15th century Iroquoian village) 40 minutes by car: Downtown Montreal, Old Montreal, the Old Port of Montreal, Chinatown, underground Montreal, the entertainment district, the Olympic park, the botanical garden, the Biodôme, the insectarium, the planetarium, Saint Joseph's Oratory, Notre-Dame Basilica, the science museum, the fine arts museum, the contemporary art museum, the McCord museum, the Pointe-à-Callière museum (national archaeological and historic site 1000 years of indigenous history and the founding of Montreal), The Ramsay “castle” museum, the national historic site of the fur trade, La Ronde (amusement park), the Montreal casino, etc. Summer: several world-renowned festivals: Montreal Jazz Festival, Just for Laughs Festival, Nuits d’Afrique, Francofolies, Fireworks, Snow Festival, etc. Winter: Montreal Lights Festival, La Fête des Neiges, Christmas markets 1 hour by car: Upper Canada Village (Ontario) where we recreate a loyalist village from the beginning of the 19th century (active) 1h15 by car: large outdoor water park Calypso 1h35 by car: Capital of Canada: Ottawa 3 hrs by car: Capital of Quebec: Quebec City 2 hrs by car: City of Trois-Rivières 4 hrs by car: Baie-Saint-Paul (Charlevoix region)

Nearest airport

Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is 35 minutes from our home.

Getting around

You must have a car to get around the area. We can discuss the possibility of lending you our car. The commuter train and express bus as well as the metro take you to Montreal. The bus and train station is 15 minutes away by car. The department stores are also in the same place.
