General Overview
In our home, one can truly connect with nature. We love to recharge our batteries with short morning walks to the waterfall below the house, and we drift off to sleep with the soothing sounds of the nearby river. We enjoy our breakfast in the garden, overlooking the majestic mountains while listening to the birds sing. The privacy of our home and the peaceful surroundings, free from roads (although the house is reachable by car) and noise, are rare luxuries nowadays, and we increasingly appreciate them. We are aware of how lucky we are to have a house in this protected area of the beautiful National Park, where building is no longer permitted.
The Space
Our house spans two levels. On the first floor, you'll find a kitchen with a dining area, a bathroom equipped with a bathtub, a bedroom featuring a spacious bed (180x200), and a cozy space furnished with a wood stove, a sofa, and a TV.
Ascending to the second floor, you'll encounter a living room furnished with a sofa, a TV, and a surround sound system, another bedroom with a generous bed (180x200), and an additional room with two beds (140x200 and 90x200). Nestled within our naturally adorned garden, you'll discover a stone seating area enveloped in moss, complete with a barbecue and a tranquil water feature. Adjacent to it stands a wooden table and bench, offering serene outdoor relaxation.
Guest Access
Guests have full access to all areas of the house as well as the garden.
Notes
Slovenia is a diverse and picturesque country, offering a myriad of enchanting destinations for exploration. For instance, you can venture to the stunning Lake Bled, the charming town of Kranjska Gora, our lively capital Ljubljana, the renowned Postojna Cave, the imposing Predjama Castle - the largest cave castle in the world, and the delightful coastal town of Piran. Additionally, you can immerse yourself in the scenic beauty of Velika Planina in the Kamnik Alps.
As a non-smoking household, we kindly request that guests refrain from smoking and engaging in loud or disruptive activities.
On the day of your arrival, we will be waiting for you after 4PM and ask you to leave the house by 10AM on the day of departure so that we can prepare the house for the next guests. Thank you.

Neighbourhood
The neighborhood boasts tranquility, enveloped by majestic mountains, babbling mountain streams, and lush forests. Just below our house lies a picturesque water grove accompanied by a cascading waterfall. Within our quaint valley, only a handful of residents call it home, yet during the summer months, it attracts numerous tourists. Nevertheless, our house remains secluded, ensuring absolute serenity. Adjacent to ours are two houses, each inhabited solely by an elderly individual. Right from our doorstep, an array of enchanting hiking trails awaits exploration.

Getting Around
The nearest shop, albeit small, is located 5 km from our house. For more extensive shopping needs, the charming town of Bovec, situated 13 km away, hosts larger stores.
What a nice exchange! The house is very comfortable with lots of space to relax and enjoy the views. The views are magnificent... what a feeling to be at the end of a road in absolutely stunning nature. The walks just at the end of the yard under the house are fantastic (how unique to have wonderful walks at the edge of your grass!). This is definitely a great place for hiking, as there are walks everywhere and all link up. Darinka made us feel very welcome, and we enjoyed meeting Klement and talking to him about the area. We enjoyed this exchange and enjoyed the immersion into the beautiful nature of the Soca Valley, a truly unique area. Thank you very much, Darinka and Klement!
Darinka’s home is an absolute fairy tale - we’ve known and loved the Lepena Valley for many years but to be able to spend a few days in the heart of it was truly wonderful. The garden is the stuff of myths, fairies and legends, the mountains tower all around and evenings around the log burner are just SO cosy.
Darinka was a delight to deal with throughout despite currently going through a horrible time in her life. We will be forever thankful to her for going ahead with the exchange and are praying she and her family have happy times again soon 🙏
Thank you so much for a fabulous exchange Darinka - we would go back in a heartbeat x
Great exchange at Darinka's house. We loved the area, people living there, wonderful cheese, wine, waterfalls, just everything! The house is absolutely beautiful, clean, and comfortable and we had the best possible vacation :) Thank you so much !
What a wonderful cozy and relaxing place! It really is a home from home, in the most beautiful surroundings!
The kitchen has everything you need, whatever you feel like cooking, and we loved the cozy TV room upstairs!
So much to see and do in the area!
Darinka was a fantastic host giving us loads of local recommendations and very prompt and useful messages!
Darinka is an amazing host, gave me all the advice needed, and prepared the house nicely. We enjoyed our stay in the gorgeous surroundings of the house and went for plenty of picturesque hikes. I can highly recommend the place for all nature lovers.
Thank you to Darinka and her lovely family for making us feel so welcome in their amazing holiday home. They were very kind and generous hosts. We have driven through the night and came to delicious breakfast which was a lovely surprise. The house was beautifuly decorated for Easter and everything was nice and clean. The cottage is super cosy and the surroundings are like from a fairy tale. We have never stayed in a house with views as such. Absolutely breathtaking. There is so much to do in the area, beautiful waterfalls just at the doorsteps and so many hikes around.
We loved our stay and would highly recommend this family 😊
Darinka has been a great communicator and I look forward to her coming in the future on a hospitality exchange anytime she can!
Darinka and her lovely family were our first exchange partners.
I have to say, and I told them, that they made it worth joining this exchange program. We started talking as strangers, but it was like we had known each other for a thousand years, everything went perfectly smoothly.
Darinka was incredibly kind, charming and very helpful in everything. They left the apartment in perfect condition, prepared for the next exchange partner to arrive that day, and even left a welcome gift. We are incredibly happy that they left Sicily with similar feelings as we usually do, and that we can host them again.
I feel that such partners restore faith in people, so the world can be a happier place! All the best, Darinka, Klement, Altej and Elin!
Of course, I recommend them with a warm heart!
Darinka and her family were wonderful guests to host. All went smooth and perfect. They took great care of the house and left everything in best shape.
Also the communication was easy since the first message and even though i did not have the pleasure of meeting them in person, it was not difficult at all to stay in touch with them. Hugely recommended!
Thanks for respecting my house and hope to meet you in the future!
Darinka left the place tidy. She was staying in touch and I felt my house was well taken care of.
It has always been a pleasure communicating with Darci and Andrew, who are such kind, down-to-earth, and easygoing New Zealanders. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to meet them in person, but my husband did, and he found them both very likeable. Knowing what wonderful people they are, I’m absolutely sure they took excellent care of our home. If they ever decide to make the long journey to Slovenia again, they will always be most welcome with us.
Penny, Graham, and their sweet dog Luna were absolutely wonderful guests. Communication with them was easy and very pleasant.
Penny and I had been in touch for quite some time, and throughout she was incredibly patient and understanding, something I’m truly grateful for.
Since I was abroad when they left, she made sure to leave the house sparkling clean and perfectly prepared for the next PLU guests. I’m endlessly thankful to her for that, as is Darci, who arrived to a beautifully tidy and welcoming home thanks to Penny’s care.
They’re always warmly welcome back anytime. ❤️
Thank you Darinka 😍
Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, we couldn’t go on our long-awaited holiday at Julie’s.
Still, Julie is such a wonderful and understanding person, and it was always a pleasure communicating with her.
We truly hope that in the future we’ll have the chance to make our wish come true and stay at Julie’s place.
Looking forward to hosting you next year!
What a truly magical exchange on the beautiful, sun-kissed and blooming island of Sicily — a place that completely stole our hearts. We had the privilege of staying in the lovely, spotless home of Gabriella and János in Balestrate. From the very beginning, we felt very welcome. They are such warm, kind and generous people, and communicating with them was an absolute pleasure throughout.
Balestrate itself is a little gem — a charming seaside town full of life, wonderful food, and a gorgeous golden sandy beach where you can sip a glass of wine while watching the sun melt into the sea. It’s also a perfect base for discovering the countless treasures of northern Sicily.
Our stay was simply unforgettable, filled with warmth, beauty, and authentic Sicilian charm.
I wholeheartedly recommend this experience to anyone who loves the sun, the sea, vibrant local life.
It's was a joy being Gabriella's and János's guest. ♥️ Thank you! ❤️
Karolina and her family are great people and perfect guests. It was a pleasure to meet and converse with them.
They took great care of our house and even made friends with our friendly neighbor.
I hope we meet again and get to know each other a little better.
Silvia's apartment in the old part of Ragusa was wonderful, spacious and clean. It was great to live like a local for a few days and explore the lively streets full of history. Ragusa is an extremely charming and authentic town on a hill, full of interesting alleys. Unfortunately, I did not meet Silvia in person, but communication with her was extremely pleasant and easy. Silvia's tips for visiting the surrounding attractions were great, we were impressed by the flamingos, which we would not have seen without Silvia's recommendation. We were welcomed by the extremely friendly Giuseppe, who was available to us at all times. Silvia's apartment was also a great starting point for visiting many other interesting surrounding places such as Modica, Scicli, Ortigia & Siracusa, Marzamemi and we did some wonderful trips to Agrigento - Valley of Temples, Scala dei Turchi, Catania, Etna and much more.
Thank you dear Silvia for giving us a chance to explore beautiful Sicily and rest in your beautiful apartment where nothing was missed. ❤️❤️❤️
Alisone and Jerome were a lovely, uncomplicated and warm couple.
Communication with Alison was always great and they took good care of our house and left it clean and tidy.
Thank you Alison and Jerome! 🌺
We had a lovely time in Katarzyna place.
My daughter was happy to spend her time at the garden and loved the pool.
The house is near Velence lake and not far away from beautiful Budapest and lovely town of Szekesfehervar.
We haven't meat Katarzyna but we still had a great communication and everything went smoothly.
Thank you Katarzyna for a lovely stay!
Katarzyna and her family were a great guests. They were easy going and took good care of our house. ♥️
Unfortunately we didn't meet in person but we have been communicating well via messenger.
We can't wait to visit their beautiful place near Budapest. 😍
Marketa and her lovely family were such a nice guests. They were friendly, uncomplicated and they took good care of our home and left it spotless clean.
We are happy to have them as our first exchange partners and they are always warmly welcome to visit us again.

We're a Slovenian family who currently lives in Germany. We love to spend our free time in nature and are not a big fans of the cities, but we definitely are a fans of adventures.
We adore animals, so if they are included in the exchange is even better.
We are very excited to share our happy place between the mountains and forest in Slovenian National Park with nature lovers and explorers of our beautiful world.
